Is it safe to perform door breaching with the M1200 shotgun?
I'm OIC for an upcoming shotgun range and would like to include a couple breaching obstacles. I'm doing research for it and all publications refer to the Mossberg 500 or 590. Is it safe to perform a doorknob and/ or hinge breach with the Winchester 1200? Also what is the probability of pellets ricocheting back onto the firer?
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoCan you bring extra stuff (i.e. socks, compass) to Ranger?
Can you bring extra items that are on the packing list to the Ranger Course? For instance it has 1 headlamp on there. Could I bring an extra in case I lose or break it?
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoHow much notice to ask a general officer to come and speak?
I know that generals are pretty busy, but my BOLC class waited kind of long to get a speaker for our graduation. Is it probably too late to send a formal letter to GEN Dunwoody or BG Quantock to come speak on 20 Mar?
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoI want to travel to Europe with a group but don't know where to start?
Hey everybody, I want to travel to Europe in early August. I don't have any friends who want/can go, and I don't want to go alone. I know there are group tours for certain cities but is there any way to hook up with a travel group that would travel together across Europe?
5 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoEthics of unmanned warfare?
I was wondering about the opinions of you about the ethics and implications of using uavs, ugvs, and uuvs in combat. Are you uncomfortable with it, consider it dehumanizing or do you just consider it the latest adaption of warfare? Do you think reduced risk will lead to more wars or less or neither? Do the pilots get combat medals?
9 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoUniversal healthcare works fine for the military, why or why not civilain?
In the military healthcare is covered through Tricare. Also when in basic training and other schools, medication is free also. I personally haven't had any bad experiences with the system, and I don't know anyone who has. Could a similar system be adapted for the civilian sector? Why or why not?
6 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoHow come supervillains/bad guys keep escaping from prison?
After repeat escapes shouldn't the jails have adapted. And how come the mass murdering/terrorist types i.e. Joker, Magneto, etc. are never executed?
6 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoInformation on branch detail?
Hey I'm an MSIV AROTC cadet, and I'll be graduating earlier than expected. As a result I need to choose a branch fairly quickly in time for accessions. I have heard that some officers may choose to "branch detail" with another branch (normally combat arms) before reverting to their main branch. Are there any officers or those in the know on here who have done this or know someone who's done this? Any info or experience would be great.
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoCan I make it through ranger school without knowing how to swim?
I'm in ROTC and I was looking to branch combat arms. I can score a 285 on my PT test (I've maxed it before). I'm pretty confident in my ability to push through hardship, however I cannot swim for the life of me. I've taken lessons before but they didn't help me and I had to use my bdu pants to pass the cwst for LDAC. Can I succeed in ranger school without being able to swim.
15 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhat's it like with military exercises with other nations....?
You always read about joint military exercises with various countries. I was just wondering how soldiers from different countries interact with each other if at all, especially with countries that aren't always on good terms with us i.e. China or Russia. Is it ever standoffish like "this guy's my enemy" or is it mostly friendly or what?
5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoRanger school water survival test?
I have no swimming ability whatsoever (like really none, I've taken classes). I once passed a combat water suvival test with ROTC by allowing my BDU bottoms to fill with air, and dog paddling on my back. What swimming aptitude would be needed for the Ranger school swimming test?
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhere is the oil filter at for V4 2002 Honda Accord?
I do not have an owner's manual to my vehicle, and really don't want to end up buying a new one. I'm trying to change my oil but I 'm having trouble finding it.

9 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhat do you think of Booker T. Washington?
Booker T Washington was one of the few pro-segregation blacks and he seemed to think that black people could bring themselves up, own their own businesses, and run their own schools in what was essentially a parallel society. He was widely denounced then. What do you think of him and his ideas?
3 AnswersHistory1 decade agoWhy is it that military uniforms from different nations seem to resemble each other?
I can definately understand why former colonies of Britain might have some resemblence, but military uniforms seem to resemble each other (with some minor adjustments) worldwide.
6 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhat is the policy both American and international concerning surviving crew of sunk/destroyed enemy ships?
After an enemy vessel is sunk, provided there are survivors, what happens to them. Does the law of naval warfare address this? I'm familiar with land warfare, but how would the whole epw situation work with ships that may not have the crew/ capacity to provide for and secure captured enemy sailors? I would think that leaving them could be problematic if they gain some sort of compromising intelligence from the engagement.
4 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoHow does the modern German military compare to its WW2 predecessor?
Much has been written about the prowess of the German military under Hitler, which plowed across Europe on 2 fronts. They were also technologically and tactically advanced for their time. How does the modern German military stack up against its predecessor?
4 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWomen in combat, what does it mean for society as well as the military?
While women have been engaged in combat throughout history, should we as a nation purposefully put them in such a position? In recent history, the only nations that seem to have purposefully trained women for frontline combat were communist (Soviet Union, Vietnam, Nepal, etc) or socialist (Denmark, Finland, France, etc.). Technology increasingly makes the physical factor obsolete to the point where theoretically even underage children could perform combat duties. While women have shown themselves to be capable in many instances, is it morally and ethically right for our society and our nation?
15 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoShould obesity be stigmatized?
It has been argued that genetics, environment, and society are to blame for the rising obesity rate in Western nations. On this point, some of the more socialist nations have actually begun regulating food content. On the other hand it has been argued that many of these factors have been around for centuries and cannot fully explain the recent boom in overweight individuals. Should obese people be stigmatized for factors within their control or should they be accepted as they are?
