  • Mini split system to heat and cool a gymnasium?

I am building a basketball gym of 7200 feet.  The contractor says a mini split system with multiple units is the most efficient way to heat/cool the space, with a 25 foot ceiling.  Does this sound correct?

  • Is this wrong of me to ask a Mason?

So my brother in law just joined the Masons about 2 months ago.  They are coming for a visit this weekend and I've got some pointup work that needs to be done on some of my brick on the front of my house.  Is it rude to ask him to help me out, or should I wait for him to offer?

  • What should I do about faulty concrete work?

I hired a contractor to build me a garage and covered patio.  He is not done yet, and we have a final payment of $12,000 due him once the job is done.

We found out last night after it rained that the concrete patio doesn't carry the water off.  It has a low spot where water gathers up against the garage.  Obviously this is going to be a pain from now on with freeze/law problems, mortar coming apart, etc.

This is a 14X20 area.  Is the only true remedy a tear out and re-lay?  Should I insist that he fix it, or is this normal?

  • Did my contractor rip me off?

So I signed a contract for a builder to build me a garage and a covered back porch for $53,000.   That's the amount we agreed to.  He is about completed.  However, I am finding out he was lying about quantities of materials that he itemized on his proposal.  For example he quoted 16 squares of shingles and it was only 10.  And he quoted 6500 bricks and it was only 4000.  So does he owe me back for these items, or since I agreed to the total price, am I pretty much SOL?

  • Running a sprinker line under a concrete footer?

So I have having a patio built.  Footers are dug, but they found a sprinkler line.  The contractor proposes that we just glue it all back together and pour the footer right on top of that line.  I told him he's crazy and the line needs to be re-routed.  He said "no matter what it's going to be under concrete."   Well yes, but I would rather have a single line with no joints running under 4 inches of concrete than a repaired one running right through 2 feet of concrete footer!!  Am I off base?

  • Why are the Chinese still eating snakes?

I was at Panda Express last night and the place was full of those hand sanimatizer things. I told the lady at the counter if you guys would knock off eating snakes we might not have to have these things. I don't understand why we have to find a cure for the coronavirus when they do stuff like that.

  • Why can’t we get the Chinese to quit eating snakes?

If they would quit eating things like bats and snakes, we prolly wouldn’t be sick with the corona virus.

  • is there a chance you can get corona virus from a chinese resturant?

I know that the main disease is coming from china so we wont eat at panda express especially with the food out for fear it could have the virus.

are there other types of resturants that might have the virus?

  • How long would you likely live after you've stopped blood transfusions for AML leukemia?

I have a 79 year old relative who has AML.  He went from a transfusion every couple of weeks, to one every week, to one every couple of days.  He was hospitalized, the doctors recommended hospice, so he has been discharged to home for hospice. There will be no more blood transfusions.  How long does a patient like this typically live?

  • Will a surgeon perform surgery on a terminally ill patient?

So my father in law has acute terminal leukemia. He is getting platelets etc., every 5 days now.  But he has a huge wound/sore (like 4 inches wide, 7 inches long) that is causing him great pain, and he wants a surgeon to remove the infected part so that he can hopefully recover.  Is a surgeon going to perform something like this on a person who doesn't have but a few weeks or months to live anyway?  It's obviously not my business but I was just curious.

  • Is this considered defecation of character?

So Miles Garrett whacked Mason Rudolph in the head with Rudolph's helmet.  Now Garrett is claiming that Rudolph used a racial slur and that's what caused it all.  So if no one else heard it on the field, isn't this a case of defecation of character?

  • Is it necessary to clutter your mantel with a bunch of greenery for the holidays?

I love decorating for Christmas, but I've never been a huge fan of loading up the fireplace mantel with a bunch of greenery. It looks cluttery and collects dust.

I am thinking of a bunch cleaner look without all of that. Maybe a few nutcrackers and a nice Christmas painting mounted behind it. Is this OK?

  • Can use a Smart TV similarly to a digital photo frame when the TV isn't in use?

When my TV is not in use, I thought it would be nice to have 10-20 different photos rotate on the screen - basically a giant digital photo frame - so that there s at least something on the wall to look at besides just a big bulky TV screen.

Can a Smart TV do this?

  • Is it illegal to wear a small rubber band in volleyball?

My daughter wears a tiny, skin-toned rubber band on her left wrist. When she begins thinking negative thoughts, she snaps it to remind her to think positive.

Well one of her smarty pants teammates said it was illegal and the team could be penalized for it. Is that true? I can't find anything in the Texas high school rules that addresses this. A rubber band obviously isnt' jewelry.
