  • Lease says 30 days to return deposit Law Says 14 - WA State?

I vacated a rental unit 26 days ago. WA State Law says that the landlord has 14 days to send me an itemized list and/or the return of my deposit. My lease states that he has 30 days to do so. When I spoke to him he said he would have it to me within a week of my move out. However, he's gone radio silent.

My question - does the law override the lease or does the lease trump the law in WA State?

Any insight would be great. Thanks!

  • Computer Virus - microsft scan didn't fix?

I have a pretty new toshiba laptop that has somehow gotten a virus. I believe it is the spyware virus, when ever I logon in normal mode spyware pops up saying I have hundreds of viruses. I googled this and apparently this is the virus disguising itself.

I went to microsoft.com and did their free virus scan and did the partial scan first and it found infected files so i tried to run the complete scan that can take several hours but the spyware virus popped up and stopped it from completely scanning the computer.

I want to know if there is another program that does the viurs scan I can access online. If not is there a way I can just delete everything off the computer (nothing too important on my computer just pictures and music) and start over fresh? I'm looking for the disc I got with the computer, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to so options with and without the disc would be very helpful.

Any help is really really appreciated!!!

    Thank you!!!!!

  • 02 Ford Mustang Won't start - battery is fine?

I have a 2002 Ford Mustang. Its been running fine, no problems. Yesterday I left the car running with my husband inside while I ran to grab something, when I returned him not realizing it was already started attempted to start the car again, and it died. And wouldn't start up again. I called a dad of my friend who is a mechanic and he said I probably shorted something, to unplug the battery and try again. (we had already tried jumping it with no luck) So as my husband was trying to untwist the battery the lights came on inside the car and we were able to start the car again. We started the car another four times yesterday and this morning no problem. Then I go to leave for work this am and it won't start. The battery is charged, the lights in the car work (although windows won't roll down) and I can hear the starter click, just the engine refuses to start up.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Its at my house and the closest mechanic is a good $200 tow truck away... any suggestions would be SO appreciated!

  • I bought a car from a private seller - he took it back?

I found an ad on CL for a man selling his car for $9500 and was willing to take monthly payments. We set up an agreement/contract that is notarized stating that I would put $2,000 down and make $380 a month payments. This was in October of 2009 and my last payment was scheduled to be in May of 2011.

Everything was great until this January. My mom calls me saying someone is looking for my car to reposess (beginning of February). I was confused since I had made all my payments and was up to date. So I called him the next morning and left a message asking him what was going on and praying it wasn't because he hadn't been making the payments to the bank. He called me back and left a minute long ranting message (cursing etc) saying he hadn't received my January payment and that he was taking the car back. So I called the bank and sure enough the check had not cleared yet. English is his 2nd language so his SIL had been helping us out throughout the process so I e-mailed her and apologized, I know I sent the check, I have a copy of the check and the letter I mailed (I did this and kept a copy every month) and said I would put another check in the mail immediately. WHICH I DID. I called and left another message for him explaining the situation as well. The SIL e-mailed me back that Monday and said he needed to receive it by Friday or he would take the car. I mailed it on Monday. And e-mailed her on Thursday, Friday and the next Monday asking if he'd received it with no response. The check hadn't been cashed (But I know it takes a few days). I e-mailed again on Wednesday and called him as well no response. I assumed at this point that he had received it or he would have contacted me.

Then that Thursday I go to leave work and my car is gone. I thought it had been stolen at first. I tried to call him, he put me to voicemail. I e-mailed her SEVERAL times, called him a million times and no response. Finally two days later she writes me saying he's keeping the car and she's not willing to discuss any further.

My question is - A. can he do this? I'm in Washington State. I have proof that I've mailed the checks and that I've made the payments. I looked up the repossession laws in WA and it states that if more than 60% of loan has been paid that I have 21 days to pay what is owed and get the car back and then after that he has to give me 30 days notice that it will be sold and I get back any money I paid on the car. I've paid $7,700 and only $1,800 is owed and the car blue books at around $9,500-$10,000.

I've written letters, e-mailed and called. And I've now been without a car for 4 months. What legal options do I have and how do I start the process? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

  • 87 Chrysler 5th Ave lurches and stutters when accelerating up to speed?

We just recently (less than 5k) put a new transmission in the car. But it was recently stolen and ever since we've found it, the car has been stuttering and hard to accelerate. It happens from a stop or even while speeding up on the freeway. And now once it gets up to 55mph or so it sometimes shakes a little. This car was in great condition before, and has roughly a 100k miles on it. We know the person hit something because now the hood won't close all the way and there is a nice dent on the back rear panel. The car is to old to have the test done that reads the engine to tell us what the problem is so we don't know where to start. Any help is SUPER appreciated! Thanks so much.

  • I have a co-worker who is turning into a stalker!?

I've worked at my job now for 9 months. And what started out as a great co-worker relationship has gone bad and quickly! She was the first person to introduce herself and invited me to lunch on the first day. Which was great because its a big office! Then we realized we live pretty close to each other and to save time and money we'd carpool.

But now she's constantly around me. She wants to go to lunch with me everyday, if we don't she asks me a 100 questions about what I did on that hour away from her. One day she even told me that it upset her that I didn't want to do lunch, she said I really hurt her. If we don't drive together 80% of the time she'll call me on the way to and from work to chat. When we do drive together she complains constantly about her life (she's 42 never married, no children and only 2 boyfriends her entire life). Anytime you try and say anything she has to make it about her and something thats happened to her. She constantly plays the victim role and trys to pull me onto her pitty wagon.

The point is I need to break away from this friendship. But she's super sensative and has had 3 other friends do this to her lately (and I've been the one hearing about weeks on end) and I don't want to hurt her but I need some major space. I feel like I have a clingy girlfriend. HELP!!

  • Promotion, but I hate the job?

I just received a promotion at work about a month ago. I was a receptionist for an insurance company and now I am an agents assistant. I love the agent I work for, but I hate my new job. I was an awesome receptionist which is why they promoted me with no experience but this job is boring and mundane. The girl who took my position isn't doing so hot, if it doesn't work out for her should I ask to be moved down? If not what advise can you give me so I can look forward to work again...? Thanks for your help!

  • Idea where to travel for honeymoon?

We are trying to plan our honeymoon for this July. We live in Washington state, and really can't afford airfare to Mexico or we would be on our way, so we are thinking of going to Canada. We can drive there, and wouldn't have to pay for the pass ports. Does anyone know any great places in Canada to stay on the west coast side? A city or specific hotel would be great! Thanks for your help!

  • Name for my baby Girl?

My fiance's middle name is Ashley his family is from the south so they got the idea from an older movie. Anyhow he is not a huge fan of his middle name since we now live in Seattle and it is seen as more of a girls name. I would like to have a daughter named either

    Ashley Kaelynn or

    Kaelynn Ashley

My moms middle name is Kae and his moms middle name is Lynn. Which order do you like better? I prefer Ashley first because I love my fiance and think it would be sweet to have her be named directly after him...

    Thanks for you opinions!

  • Who can come take a wrecked car for free?

I live in Seattle and my fiance wrecked his car. It runs but only for a few mins and would cost more to fix it then it is worth, is there some place that will come take the car for free or little cost? I know VOA will take cars but I am not sure if they have to run well or what. There is front damage, and the air bags did go. I think at this point it is more for parts than anything. Thanks any help would be great!

  • Stay or Run?

My fiance and I were engaged in June and have started making plans for the wedding. We are a younger couple 18 & 20 but have been together going on 3 years. We set a date TOGETHER and started to make plans. My parents just paid for the hall for the ceremony and reception and I have started paying toward my dress. We have all the colors, guests, attire and food arranged. His family has never been 100% supportive in our relationship or the engagement because we are young. Yesterday he told me that him and his aunt were talking and he decided and she agreed that he was to immature to get married. He says that he DOES NOT want to end the relationship or the engagement just set the date back to some unknown time until he feels he mature enough. My problem is that I want to be understanding but at the same time why ask if your not ready, and why let my family pay for so much already. I have no idea how to tell my parents or anyone else for that matter. Please any advice?
