I love aviation, motoring, visual computing, meteorology, astronomy and piety. I'm the quiet, loner type; I also don't say much -verbally. I guess you could call me a self-absorbed introvert. It usually takes someone with exceptional humor and a mind that has been broadened by prolific experiences and encounters with people from different walks of life, to bring me outta my shell. I don't have what many people refer to as "best friend(s)" due to my slightly eccentric outlook/mindset on life (I'm also religious: pro "self-redemption" in nature). I strongly believe in being tolerant of other people's differences, though I will defend what makes me different and won't leave my ways. Nor will I compel anyone to leave his/her ways...its a free world. Can you relate with me?
What causes "hot-start" and "wet-start" when starting jet engine i.e. CFM-56B?
I understand that letting the fuel in too early (before sufficient spooling or rpm has been attained) can result in fuel flooding the combustion chamber thus preventing a good start of igniton. But what about hot starts?
2 AnswersAircraft1 month agoIs close-aircraft formation at supersonic speeds possible?
I'm curious and would like to know if it is safe (any adverse effects?) for two aircraft flying side-by-side (about 10 to 20 meters apart) to maintain that formation while:
1. Accelerating from the same subsonic speed to the same supersonic speed?
2. Accelerating from slightly different subsonic speeds to the same or nearly the same supersonic speed but with slightly different accelerations?
3. If a third aircraft were to join them from the side, from behind, above or under, would it be adversely affected by the "shockwave cones" of any of the two aircraft already at supersonic cruise?
I'm curious about how the air around them would behave when the "shockwave cones" of each aircraft touch each other...would they cancel each other out or do something else (get amplified or diverge it converge).
3 AnswersAircraft1 month agoHow to stop chronic, rogue duplication of contacts in my phone?
Hello everyone, my problem is the constant/recurring, mass-duplication of my contacts. At first I had no idea which app was behind it so I kept trying (repeatedly) to solve the problem by turning off the auto-sync of my following accounts where I backup my contacts:
> Google
> Microsoft (Outlook)
> Samsung
> WhatsApp
> Duo
So far I noticed that WhatsApp has a habit of turning back on its auto-sync of my contacts. I confirmed this by checking the merge-contacts section of my default contracts manager (Samsung...I use a Galaxy SM-A750F D/S, running Android-10). My question therefore is "is it possible/how can one permanently turnoff auto-sync/contacts backup by WhatsApp?"
I'm really getting tired of manually backing up/restoring my contacts each time they get duplicated/self-deleted. I no longer back them up online using auto-sync (I manually export them to my cloud storages).
I'm also considering (next time WhatsApp makes a duplicate of my contacts) deleting the copies of each I made, and keeping each copy that WhatsApp makes. Your expertise in this issue is highly welcome thanks.
Software4 months agoCan Windows10 "Start" menu customisations be saved in a ".cfg" file?
In Windows-10, is it possible to save as a ".cfg" file, user-selected/user-arranged apps in the Windows-10 start menu, as well as the user-sizing and user-coloring of the start menu?
I'm asking because I went through a lot of trouble to meticulously select and arrange certain apps in the start menu of a PC-1/User-account-1, and now I'd like to do the exact same (time-consuming) thing to PC-1/User-account-2 as well as PC-2/User-account-1, without spending the same colossal amount of time customising the other two start menus.
Thanks.
1 AnswerSoftware8 months agoWhat are the appropriate flaps settings and landing speed for a single-enging landing on a Boeing 737-800?
I tried the normal flaps-30 and speed range of 135kias-145kias five times and stalled just shy of the runway. On my sixth try, I came in at 155kias using flaps-15 and barely had enough rudder authority to land successfully.
6 AnswersAircraft9 months agoWhat is the meaning of "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped."?
It keeps popping up when I start using the phone, shortly after it has booted. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900), running Android-5.0
I flashed the phone and installed s fresh copy of the stock Android-5.0 they I got it with (OTA update). What could be wrong with it; I need an interpretation of this error message. Thanks.

4 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 year agoWhich Android app allows 360° surround shots to be taken in gyro-equipped phones?
I'm searching for an app that can use the gyro in my Samsung Galaxy A7 (SM-A750F) to allow the phone to take surround shots the way my older Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) can (see screenshots attached). Unfortunately, your app feel sorry of my expectations. Do you know of any app out there that can enable a Samsung SM-A750F to take surround shots like a Samsung SM-N900? Thanks.
Cell Phones & Plans1 year agoWhat are the configuration-related, pneumatic requirements for starting a Boeing 737 (Classic/NG) engine, based on the following?
During an engine start, is it necessary to turn off both aircon packs or just the same-side aircon pack, in order to obtain the necessary 30psi duct pressure required to pneumatically spin the engine starter (which in turn cranks the engine to or near maximum motoring speed for a clean, self-sustaining ignition)? Thanks.

I ask because it takes so long to export an edited video...after it takes so long to render it. Is there any way around these long waiting periods?
5 AnswersSoftware2 years agoWhat is the larger tire size limit for a 2003 Toyota Corolla LE sedan?
Are 215/55 R15 tires too big for a 2003 model Toyota Corolla LE sedan? I see almost every one of this model wearing 205/60 R15 size instead of the factory-specified 195/60 R15 size, which is what I currently have (lower ride-height that I'm not comfy with; I need a little more ground clearance). Thanks.
2 AnswersToyota3 years agoDIY diagnosis for refrigerant leakage on 2003 Toyota Corolla LE sedan.?
I drive a fairly used Corolla 2003 sedan that was exposed to quite a bit of corrosion (body) but the engine and autobox are in good shape. My problem is that the air-conditioning refrigerant keeps leaking away within an month; this has happened twice. I'm writing if the leak is from the compressor or one of the gas lines, I can't say for sure because I'm inexperienced.

How does an aircraft airconditioning system (especially the heat-exchanging part) work to cool air that an aircraft is pressurized with?

3 AnswersAircraft4 years agoWhat is the risk of choosing MS-Access over MySQL for a small database?
What are the risks of choosing/using MS-Access over MySQL to create a small (relatively?) database for managing the academic records of staff being trained in-house (in an organisation that has a staff of 3,000 or less) for one course or the other that s aimed at increasing staff productivity.
Access to the database will be limited to the administrator of the training department and occasionally by the head of Human Resources department during staff appraisals (using the academic records as a component).
What are the risks of using MS-Access instead of MySQL for such a seemingly small database (in other words, I m asking for a kind of comparative analysis between the two)? Thanks in advance for your informative response. Most detailed answer gets my "Best Answer + 5 stars".

2 AnswersToyota4 years agoHow potent are the Anti-Ice Heating for sensor probes on aircraft?
Why is it that despite being heated, probes (pitot, alpha-vane, etc) on aircraft are still prone to icing over during storm penetration. This has been observed on airliners (especially Airbus). Is there a way of enhancing protection of these probes from icing threats (especially the notorious crystal-icing)?
