  • Really want a second baby, but...?

My husband and I both really would like to have a second baby, but...

Our only daughter is in K4 at a local private school. If we have another baby, she will have to move to public school for K5. The private school has much smaller classes, no uniforms, and she loves it there. The public schools here are crowded, but not necessarily bad. If we don't have another child, she will stay in private school.

My mom kept our daughter in her home while my husband and I worked from infancy until she started K4, but has made it clear that she will not keep another one. We did pay her. A second child would have to go to daycare because we rely on both incomes to pay our bills.

The healthcare reform is already going to raise the cost of our insurance and adding another person to our plan would only make insurance more expensive.

I am an only child and we don't have good relations with my husband's family. I think that a second child would be great for us, but I am worried about money.

  • Private School or a Sibling?

My only child (a daughter) is currently enrolled in the Pre-K program at a local private school. The public school here is not bad, but it is much more crowded. My daughter really loves the private school. I like the staff and the small classes. If she remains an only child, my husband and I can afford to send her to the private school through high school. On the other hand, my husband would like to have another baby, but that means that my daughter will not be able to go to the private school. We simply could not afford private school and all the expense that go with having another child. In a way, I would like for my daughter to have a sibling because she has no cousins that live nearby. I was an only child, but I have a cousin who has lived near me my whole life and is like a sister. I know that my husband and I won't be around forever and I'd like to leave her with a close family member when she's an adult and we are gone. I'm reluctant to remove her from a school at which she is thriving and from her friends. Here's my question: which would be more important to you, having a second child or a first rate private school education for the child you have?

  • Obama Care & Maternity Coverage?

From what I've read about the new Health Care Act, maternity coverage will be included on all NEW private or small group insurance plans beginning in 2014. I have insurance now, but do not have maternity coverage. In order for my husband and I to have another child, I must pay for the maternity rider for a full year before getting pregnant. That rider is VERY expensive. It sounds like I would be better off waiting until 2014 and canceling my current health insurance policy and starting a new one. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

  • Inviting my daughter's dance class to her birthday party?

My daughter is turning 4. She's not in day care and her cousins all live too far away, but I would like to invite all of the girls in her dance class to the party. Her birthday is in the summer when there are no classes. Would it be rude to hand out invitations at the last class of the spring?

  • American Girl Doll: Elizabeth or...?

I am thinking of getting a doll for my little girl. I am debating between the historical Elizabeth doll (which they are discontinuing this year) and a couple of period outfits and the set of books or a My American Girl doll and bed. I have posted the links to both dolls below. My daughter said that she liked the My American Girl doll and that Elizabeth was beautiful. Which would you buy for your daughter?

  • American Girl Dolls: Historical vs My American Girl?

My daughter is still a little young for these dolls, but as they are retiring Felicity and Elizabeth this year I was thinking of buying Elizabeth and putting the doll away until next Christmas. For parents whose children play with these dolls: does your daughter prefer the Historical dolls or the My American Girl made to look like her? Which dolls have you purchased?

  • Two year old won't eat, but wakes me up at night for milk?

My two year old daughter refuses to eat more than a few bits of anything. Her pediatrician says not to force her to eat and that she will eat when she gets hungry. My problem is that she wakes me up three or four times a night because she wants a cup of milk. What should I do?

  • Sons of Anarchy Season 2 DVD?

I've found several sites offering Sons of Anarchy Season 2 in a five disc boxed set, but the sites I normally order from (Barnes and Noble, Books A Million, Amazon.com, etc.) show that the season hasn't yet been released. Do you think the sites that show it available are legitimate?

  • The Vampire Diaries...?

Are any other fans of Lisa Jane Smith's novels disappointed by the previews to the new T.V. series? I just can't get over all the discrepancies. The newest written edition to the series was also a disappointment!

  • How many people were invited to your baby shower?

My best friend has offered to throw me a shower for my first baby. I really do want to have a shower, but every shower I have ever been to was really big and there aren't many people to invite to mine. I am one of two women in my department at work. I have a small family and my husband is estranged from his family. Has anyone else had a shower with very few guests?

  • Petite women: where is a good place to find maternity jeans?

I ordered a pair of roll-panel jeans from Old Navy and loved the way they fit, except for the fact that they were about six inches too long. Is there a good place to find maternity jeans for someone who is 5'3" and wore a size two before becomming pregnant?

  • Cramping during sex?

I am fourteen weeks pregant. When my husband and I have sex I experience a tightening feeling in my abdomen (a lot like menstrual cramps). It doesn't matter what position we are in. Is there any way to make this stop or will it go away on its own as I get farther along?

  • At what point did you make the switch to maternity clothes?

I'm thirteen weeks pregnant and can only fit into three pairs of my normal jeans. I've always worn tight clothes. At what point in your pregnancy did you find that you had nothing left to wear? Did you swap to maternity jeans as soon as you couldn't get into your regular clothes or did you start wearing regular pants made out of a stretchier material?
