  • What should I do about my wireless network?

So I am a tech-savy teenager, and obviously I live at home with my parents. My dad has a wireless-n router set up HIS way, and it is really annoying. He has it set to archaic TKIP encryption which is unsecure and makes my Google Cr-48 laptop unusable. He has an ancient laser printer connected using an ancient wireless g printer bridge, and this setup isn't reliable in the least. I have a Roku as well, and it won't even connect to the network just like my Cr-48. The only device of mine that will work is my Vista laptop (ironic). I want to move us to the 21st century, but he won't replace all his ancient gear. What can I do? Is it possible to connect a second router to the first and set up my own network with MY settings? I am away from the router, so I am thinking of using a powerline adapter to connect a second router to the first and have my own network that I use. Will that work? Any other suggestions fellow networkers?

  • What shoulds I do about swimming?

So I have been swimming competitively for many years now. I have had periods of both enjoying it and not caring the least. Recently my coach left, so I moved up to the higher group in my club. I'm no longer motivated to swim hard, and the practices are harder, so I'm getting left behind big time. I'm a sophomore in high school, and I swim towards the top of state level. I'm no Michael Phelps, but could definitely swim Division 3 college. I don't want to through away all my training, but I hate going to practice day in, day out. Should I move back to the easier group and stay at this speed, or suck it up and try and get faster in my new group?

  • How to use a Canonet 28?

I just got a Canonet 28 (a fixed lens 1970s rangefinder) in great condition and I want to start using it. It currently has a PX625 battery in it, but I doubt that it has any juice left. Can I go down to the drug store and pick up a rolll of film and a 1.4v hearing aid battery to get it to work? If so, how will I know it is working? There isn't exactly an on and off switch (Sorry, I'm a teenage photographer who has literally grown up on digital. This will be my first film camera that I'll use).

  • What do you think of these pictures?

My last photography class is Thursday, and we are having a photo competition. I need a good photo by then. Here are a few I have taken. Please tell me which, if any, are good. If none of them will work, I need to find a good shot by Thursday, and as the pictures show, I live in Las Vegas. Any ideas for more shots/how to improve these would be welcome. These are just random shots from various things I've done and places I've been. I still need to edit these shots, so please forgive any minor errors but feel free to point them out. As a beginning photographer, I need all the constructive criticism I can get. Thanks for looking at my work!

  • What to do with my $450? Iphone 3gs or megazoom camera?

I have about $450 in my savings account. I am interested in taking up photography, so I would like to get a megazoom camera which would offer me a lot of options. It would be my first step toward getting a DSLR. Currently I have no camera of my own, but I am very good with technology (I'm a nerd) and pretty good with cameras. I have narrowed down to a few different cameras. They are: Kodak EasyShare Z1012IS, Pentax X70, and Kodak EasyShare Z980. Which one would be best? My other question is should I, instead of the camera, buy a new iPhone 3Gs? I currently have an iPhone 3G and don't see a hugely compelling reason to upgrade, but all the new features would be nice. Especially the improved speed both in the phone itself and the network. I am very mad that I have to pay full price to upgrade, but I would still do it. Please answer fast. I want to decide soon because if I decide on the iPhone, I want to get it the day it comes out. Otherwise, I will order the camera as soon as possible. Thanks!

  • Can I keep the license key to my Windows XP install if I plan to get rid of XP and install Windows 7RC?

I have an old desktop with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 Service Pack 2 on it. I would like to delete that and totally wipe my hard drive by replacing it with Windows 7 Release Candidate. Is there a way to keep my license key for that XP install and use it on future computers if I want to install XP? I don't believe the computer came with an actual install disc, only a recovery disk. Is there a way to keep XP for future computers?

  • Help with games for TI 84 Plus Silver Edition?

I just got a new TI-84 Plus SE and I have been loading a bunch of games onto it. I use the mirage os to launch them. But I have tried to play Super Mario and The King of Fighters onto my calculator, and I have a problem. It appears in Mirage OS and I can launch it, but the text is all slanted sideways and so is all of the elements of the game. It works fine, but it isn't really playable like this. I have tried clearing the RAM and giving it all the memory it needs, but it still doesn't work. Please help.

  • How to get Doom 1 on my computer?

I would like to play the original Doom on my laptop. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit edition. I want just a simple .exe or something where it is very easy to install and use. I don't want one of those downloads with a ton of different files that I don't know what to do with. Anyone know a free way to do this easily?

  • Xbox 360 as a wireless media center extender!?

I have a Windows XP media center edition 2005 pc (update rollup 2) connected to my wireless g network. My xbox 360 is also connected to this same network. My computer has all the software it needs, and it sees the xbox. but when i click on the media center button in the xbox guide, it flashes the 8 digit code but then tries to automatically set it up while my computer is asking for the code. it is very frustrating. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work.

NOTE: I dont care about quality, i just want it to work. so please dont tell me to buy a new router or hardwire to the current router. the router is in my moms office. i just want to no if my current setup will work.

Also, i have done this before by hooking the xbox to the computer via ethernet, but with the xbox's wireless adapter plugged in, the ethernet jack is disabled.

  • How To Reuse An Old Portable Xbox Screen?

Ok, so way way back when I bought my original xbox at bestbuy it came in this bundle with a 5" portable lcd screen by zenith so you could play it without a tv. So a while ago I sold my original xbox, and today I found the screen. It still has its power cable and an a/v

cable which goes from the original xbox a/v cable to like a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Is there anything I could reuse it for? I don't want to sell it, cause I would probably get like $5 for it, and I want to reuse it. Please help!

  • Email on my cell phone help?

Ok, so I just bought the Moto Q Global from AT&T. Great phone, but I have a problem. So when you click on the messaging button, it brings up a menu. One of the options is to add a new email account. I did that with my yahoo account, and it works great. But after I synced the phone with my computer, a link to outlook email appeared on the menu. But my yahoo was still there separate. So I thought the yahoo account might be set up on at&t's xpress mail client, which is $5 a month. Am I right? I don't want to pay that, but I still would like the mobile email. Can anyone help me?

  • Is the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive worth it for use with a computer monitor?

I have my Xbox 360 hooked up to my Dell 19" Ultrasharp monitor via VGA. The maximum resolution of the monitor is 1280 x 1024, which I believe is 1080i. The monitor is not widescreen (4:3 ratio instead of 16:9 between the sides). I have my audio hooked up to a sony stereo, which is pretty loud. Do you think it is worth it to spend $180 to watch HD-DVD's?

  • Is there a way I can hook up my ipod to my 5.1 Channel Surround System by Philips?

I own a ipod and a Philips Extreme 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System (really cheap, bought for $90 at Frys). I have hooked up the cable in various ways, but at the best, I get sound out the front and back speakers, not the center one and the subwoofer. I would really like to get my ipod sound through at least the subwoofer, and can't find a way to do it. The system obviously doesn't use RCA, which is just left and right, not surround. Anyway, does anyone know an inexpensive/free and easy way to do this? Please help, I love to listen to my music really loud and bassy in my room, but I can't really do that with an Ihome, can I?

  • Is it okay for a 12 year old to have an airsoft rifle? If so, how do I convince my parents and purchase it?

I tried to buy an airsoft rifle at Wal-Mart, but apparently you have to be 16 to purchase one. If I get it online, is it okay? I would do it with my parents permission, of course.
