  • what happens to "lost" mutual funds?

I bought a fund several years ago, since then ive lost most of the paperwork, ive moved several times and mail cant be forwarded or sent to most of those addresses, and the mutual fund itself has changed companies/names. Am I out of luck? I have the original name of the fund, I think, and tried to call a number on it and look it up online and had no luck at all.

  • insulating my old house ?

i have the plaster and lathe walls with blown in insulation covered with paneling. Its all pretty old. I want to take the paneling off, rip out the old plaster and lathe and insulation, put in probably r13 fiberglass stuff, and get some of the hard styrofoam sheets of insulation to replace the lathe and plaster, and then put the paneling back on where it was. Do i need to cover the fiberglass insulation with plastic or would that be a bad idea? I have plenty of plastic laying about, and thought that maybe it would help stop any leaks if i leave any gaps.

  • can all birds with webbed feet swim?

Can all birds with webbed feet swim? We've got thousands of them attracted to the lights circling the ship at night. Many land on the ship after repeatedly running into the bulkheads. We threw hundreds over the side in Alaska when we had the same thing happen and almost all of them ended up in the water. Not sure if they ever got out of the water after that.

my brother emailed this to me from the ship he works on.

  • is fingerprinting real or just done on csi?

My camp got broken into a while ago, and my childhood baseball card collection, my comic book collection, and a bunch of other stuff was stolen. I called the cops, one showed up, stood at the door, asked what was missing in general, and said that things like this they never solve until it happens about 50 times and someone the thief knows like an irate gf turns them in. Dont they take fingerprints and try to match them up before another 49 breakins happen, during which many irreplaceable items will be stolen or vandelaized, and maybe an assualt or two or a murder if they get surprised while in the act?

  • is this rude?

is it rude to invite a guy over and then spend hours on the computer chatting with an ex or with some guy who is interested in her? She says he is an idiot, and that she isnt interested in him anymore, and that she's not flirting, but I dont come over there to sit by myself watching tv or reading, I can do that at home alone easily enough. Whether I should be jealous or worried about where our relationship is going is another question that Im not even going to ask here, I just want to know if it is rude or is my feeling neglected just me being immature or something.

Am I going to need some kind of boot or startup disk, and if so, where would i get one of those? Is there some other thing wrong with this thing, or is there some button I dont know about?

  • painting with old motor oil?

I have an old barn that had been stripped of the old paint but not repainted. How bad of an idea would it be to use some old used motor oil, of which there is a couple barrels in the barn, instead of buying new primer and paint? I did a patch and kind of like the look, it soaked in fine and left the wood nice and dark. Is this against the law, a health or fire hazard, or not a good protective covering or anything? I dont live in town, and there are no nosy neighbors within sight, so im not really worried about the law but i dont like to be a polluter either.

  • What is wrong with people?

I dont know which section this should be in, but, i just wanted to ask, is it just me or does this seem wrong? I have been playing some stupid game on the computer, "soda pipes", and my scores were high enough so that my gf's son (14)couldnt get his name on the top ten. His solution, which she did later, was to reset the scores so he could get on it. What on earth does that teach a kid? When i was a kid I wouldnt even want to be patronized that way, now they think it is their rights. I dont know if he learned it from her, or in school, but it seems like a really poor way to get thru life, and i see it all the time in the lack of pride and ambition people have.

  • 1.5 billion more rounds of ammo?

what are they doing with all this stuff? The weapons depots that sadaam left behind had tons of stuff, now they are using up every bullet in america too? Their aim cant be that bad can it? Even if they are like new york cops and put 44 shots into each unarmed civilian cornered in a hallway, that would still mean the entire population of iraq has been killed or wounded at least once.

  • how should the bills be divided?

I moved in with my gf, who has three kids that arent mine. Should I pay 50% of everything, rent, food, utilities, etc, or should I get a break, and if so how much would be fair? She gets child support and food stamps and tanf, and the rent goes to her mother, who hates me. Im more than happy to pay a quarter, since i do live there and use her things, but I dont see paying half, especially since she will see much of that back again one way or the other.

  • no kid left behind?

My gf's kids told her that no matter how badly they do in school they wont be held back but will be passed on to the next grade. She didnt believe this till a parent teacher meeting to discuss why her son hadnt been bothering to do most of his work, what little they actually assign. Im not sure if the school got the wrong idea or is this a correct take on the no kid left behind act? They confirmed the rumour. Is this true in many schools or is this some kind of horrible abberation?

  • What size wiper blades?

were installed on my 2000 chevy blazer? Were both front 20" or is the passenger side supposed to be shorter? I have noticed that the passenger side blade almost hangs over the side of the windshield even though the catalog says that is the size it needs.

  • homemade cheese?

I messed up trying to make some mozzerella, I found the recipe online and have used it before, with varying successes. This time it came out badly, almost a cream cheese paste type texture, really sticky and not at all like mozzerella. Has my vegetable rennet gone bad, or did i over or under cook it? It doesnt taste bad, I flavored it with garlic salt anyway, and the small amount ive eaten hasnt killed me yet. This is one of the quicker and easier recipes ive found, and as i said its worked better before.

  • why only four, why not 16?

Four 275-foot-tall wind turbines were unveiled last year at the Naval Station at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba, meeting about a quarter of the base's electrical needs and saving hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel.
