Im a student and just finished a 5 week practicum. I have two children and I would just like to relax and unwind and enjoy the holidays with my girls. My parents expect me to be at their house Christmas eve and stay until boxing day. I would have no problem with this if we lived far away and didn't see each other often. However, my parents live 10 minutes away and we see them often. I would even hold Christmas dinner at my house if they would like. I just don't want to deal with a bunch of drama. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I would like to stay home and relax. Is that wrong?

what do you think are good books for small children?

you've been hurt badly and have to watch you children repeatedly be let down and disappointed by someone selfish and ignorant. how do you forgive this? not necessarily, forgive the person, or have to forget. the mind just won't let you forget about somethings. so how do you forgive? So that one can finally be happy and move on in life and finally feel good again, about the person you are. this is something I am having a hard time determining and just need an objective point of view. How would you forgive for this complete lack of respect or regard for your feelings and further mentally and emotionally harming your children only because they feel entitled to do so. Or do I just need to forgive myself for being young and stupid and totally blinded by love. and loving that person.

I'm just interested in your thoughts please. No judgment or harsh comments. I just need to get past this to move on and be better for me, my children and for my life. Cause life is supposed to be great right?

it's just the recently i have had few friends and family say some harsh things to me. things i would never say to them. Cuz these people are supposed to love me. how can you love and be soo nasty and call it tough love!

my parents go out out of their way to help me. and i love them. and appreciate everything they do for me and my girls. my dad is always there. My mom is my daughters best nana!

I am a single mom in my 30's, going to school. i pay my bills and provide for my kids. I don't ask for a lot. i don't party, or drink, and try to make wise financial choices. But every time they do something for me, (like buy groceries for me, that i don;t need, but it;s never bad to have more food) that they can tell me what to do. Like we did this for you so Saturday you can come watch the dog for us! well, first off, i didn't ask for crap. second, it's the weekend, the only time i have with my kids and to do home work. So what makes anyone, let alone my parents, the right to tell me what to do?

I am not trying to be rude or inconsiderate, or ungrateful for that matter. When they do need my help, i try to help when i can and do for them what ever they want. It would just be nice once in a while to not have strings attached.

So why do my parents think that they can tell me what to do?
