Is the converse of logarithmic rules valid?
log (m/n) = log m - log n
So is log m - log n = log (m/n) too?
Similarly,
log mn = log m + log n
So is log m + log n = log mn true too?
Pls explain.
6 AnswersMathematics5 years agoColligative property question?
How's the relation i = 1 + alpha deduced
For the question- pH of a 0.1M monobasic acid is found to be 2.Hence its osmotic pressure at a given temp T is the solution is:
[H+]=C*alpha
Therefore alpha=0.01/0.1=0.1
Now,
i=alpha +1
i=0.1+1
i=1.1
Osmotic pressure
=CRTi
=0.1RT1.1
=0.11RT
So here what does i = alpha + 1 stand for? Any formula or ideas to deduce this or perhaps another way by which the question can be solved
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoEveryone in my family is sick! Help?
So few days before the water in our house was badly contaminated. Then we got it cleaned and now its back to its usual clean self.
But just one day after, my grandmother started puking and had diarrhoea. It has longed for 3 days now and she says she feels better. Amidst this all my mother started puking last night with the same case of diarrhoea. I live in India. Can anyone suggest what's going on? I don't think it's because of the water because no one drank that water. It was filtered by RO and then we drank it. I've my exams soon and I'm scared if this is contagious. Will they get OK soon? Any ideas?
1 AnswerInfectious Diseases5 years agoFind the new coordinates of (2, 3) if the coordinate axes become x+y+1 = 0 and x-y+2=0?
I found the point of intersection ie the origin by solving both the lines. And them applied shifting of origin by X = x - h and Y = y-k
x and y being 2, 3 and h and k- origin.
But the question was solved in a completely diff way in my book. Am I doing sth wrong? Pls help!
2 AnswersMathematics5 years agoAcidic strength order. Helppp pls?!?
What'll be the acidic strength order of:
Ortho methyl phenol, ortho ethyl phenol, ortho propyl phenol and ortho butyl phenol.
Which one will have maximum acidic strength? I'm confused because we studied ortho position gives rise to hyperconjugation thus implying to +m effect in return as +m are electron releasing groups and as the no of c-h bonds increase, +m increases, +m increasing implies less acidic strength. So, acc to the order I've written them in isn't this the INCREASING order in terms of acidic strength?
Help will be really appreciated. Thanks.
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoHigher dipole moment: Ch3Cl or Ch2cl2?
So ch3cl should've the higher moment but whys it so? Acc to the vector sum ch2cl2 has more vectors as compared to ch3cl. Secondly, two chlorines contribute to a higher electronegativity. But people say because of symmetry and no of halogens ch3cl has a huger dipole. Are the reasons correct? If not, what're the correct reasons?
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoEye problem?
My eye has been twitching non stop since the beginning of December. It goes on throughout the day. Stops for a few seconds and starts again. There s nothing else going on in the eye. No redness, water discharge or anything. But this has started to bug me a lot. So much that I try hold my eye with a piece of cloth. Should I see a doctor? Some people say it ll go away on its own and is because of winter wind. What should I do? See a doctor or what?
4 AnswersOptical5 years agoA strong base- strong acid titration curve. 0.1 M HCl is being added to 0.1 M NaOH 50 ml. help needed.?
As per my calculations, pOH is decreasing from 13 to 3 and pH is increasing from 1 to 11
Am I doing sth wrong? Because if the pH will increase the curve will be that of a strong acid vs strong base. Plsss help
1 AnswerChemistry5 years agoEquilibrium question?
Equimolar conc. of H2 and I2 are heated to equilibrium in a 2l flask. At equilibrium, the forward and backward rate constants are found to be equal. What percent of initial conc. of H2 has reacted at equilibrium?
1 AnswerChemistry6 years agoNitrogen and hydrogen react to form ammonia acc to the following reaction: N2(g) + 3H2 ---> 2NH3(g)?
If 1000 g of H2 reacts with 2000 g of N2
Which one is the limiting reactant? And what's the mass of ammonia formed?
See, we've 28 g of Nitrogen and 6g of Hydrogen
I divided 2000/28 = 71.42 moles
And 1000/6 = 166.66 moles
The ratio is 1:3
This means 71.42 moles should give around 214 moles but we're getting less than the reqd amount. This means H2 is the LR, right?
I've been solving all limiting reagent qs like this. But I'm getting this particular question wrong by this method. Can anyone explain why?
Thanks a lot!
