  • What is your opinion of a man who did this?

He has been married to the same woman for 28 years and they have three children in their 20s. He began an affair 3.5 years ago with a woman who:

    1. Is his wife's best friend since grade school

    2. Is his employee

    3. Is also married with adult children and an ill husband

Together, the two of them tried...pretty successfully...to make his wife believe she was crazy. His Mother encouraged his relationship with the "other woman" and would try to make sure the two women ran into each other.

He had moved out of his home and into his own apartment after Christmas. Last weekend he invited his wife to a "sleep over." (not the first time...or even the first time that week) Early the next morning, his mistress let herself in with a key (the wife didn't have one) and flew into a rage because the man was cheating on her with his wife. The mistress kicked and hit him and the wife.

After this incident, he finally admitted to his wife and children he is having an affair with this woman. Then, after dropping that in their lap, he left on a business trip so he wouldn't have to deal with the aftermath.

Personally, I think this guy is a sleaze and I think the "other woman" is a whore. However, I'd like your opinion.

FYI this scenario is not about me, but it is what happened to my next door neighbour

  • Globe-Wernicke Sectional Barrister's Bookcase?

I'm looking for information about the value of a Globe-Wernicke Barrister's Sectional Bookcase. It has a drawer at the bottom and 4 glassed book shelves. There is a small scratch on the finish (but not the wood) on the very top, probably from being improperly moved. I'd also like to know what "grade" means.

    The labels indicate:

    Globe-Wernicke Sectional Bookcase

    Cincinnati

    Standard D Square Top

    Pattern 141

    Grade 516 1/2

    Base label indicates:

    Globe-Wernicke

    Standard C-D

    Leg Drawer Base

    Pattern 148

    Grade 516 1/2

There is a signature on the pieces:

    C.W. Pellett #22

I recently inherited this from my Grandmother. It belonged to my Great-Grandmother. I am not interested in selling it, but I do want to make sure it is properly insured.

    Thank you for your help!

  • Looking for a recipe for a dark chocolate rolled fondant?

I make my fondant from scratch...both the regular rolled fondant and the marshmallow rolled fondant. I have a recipe for a chocolate marshmallow rolled fondant but it turns out too light. I'm looking for a really rich dark chocolate rolled fondant recipe that doesn't need to have food coloring added to make it a dark enough brown.

    Please help!

  • What is the difference between "non-toxic" and "food safe?"?

I am gearing up to get started learning Gum Paste Flowers. I am a little confused about the chalks that we need. Some people on the internet use an Inkadinkado Non-Toxic Artistic Chalk to tint their gum paste flowers. Other people have said, "No, you have to use food safe chalks." I thought Non-Toxic WAS food safe.

Does it have something to do with possible allergens that aren't declared because this chalk isn't technically a "food" item?

Before anyone goes bananas, I haven't used the chalk yet. I haven't even started the course yet.

Contrary to what my Mom will tell you, I DO ask questions before I blunder into things.

  • What is your secret to keeping a gluten free cake moist?

My husband has celiac disease so he can't eat anything that contains any wheat, barley, or rye (or any of their derivatives). That means that I CANNOT use all-purpose flour, cake flour, or bread flour.

The flours we CAN use are white rice, sweet white rice, tapioca, soy, potato, corn, bean and pea flours, etc.

I do not like using cake mixes. I prefer to mix everything myself so I know what has gone into what I'm about to serve. I actually have some good recipes that taste great but I struggle to keep the cakes moist without being too moist. Any suggestions?

  • Where in Canada can I find artificial Rye Flavor for Gluten Free cooking?

My husband has celiac disease and the whole house is gluten free to make sure he isn't contaminated with wheat, barley, or rye (and their derivatives).

In "The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread," a gluten free rye bread recipe calls for artificial rye flavor. Does anyone know where I can buy this in Canada?

  • We're getting a 2008 Jeep Liberty Ltd with 17" wheels so it is Trail Rated?

What color do you think we should go for?

We wanted the Jeep green but we'd have to pay an extra $1k to get it with all the other features we want.

We thought of red as our second choice but our next door neighbour has a red SUV (Envoy) and we don't want it to look like we're "keeping up with the neighbors."

We have FINALLY hit on the Silver and it is available with the options we want.

Do you think we should wait and pay for the green or should we "slightly" settle and go for the silver?

  • Were you referred to a Dietitian when you were diagnosed with Celiac Disease?

When my husband was diagnosed, we were told we could find a lot of information about Celiac Disease on the internet and that we might want to talk with a dietitian. However, we weren't referred to a dietitian, which would have been covered under our insurance.

Just wanting to know how many others were just given their diagnosis but not offered additional help, support, or even information about where to shop for gluten free foods.

  • Looking for the name and author of this book or story?

I read a book or story in my grade 9 English class about forcing equality. (Or the danger of not appreciating each person for his or her individual strengths in an attempt to achieve true equality)

In this world of equality, if a person was smart, he was forced to wear apparatus on his head that would give him an electric jolt to short circuit his mental activity so that he wouldn't be smarter than the person with the most severe challenges.

If a person was strong, healthy, and athletic, he was forced to wear heavy weights in order to hold him back so that he couldn't perform better than the person with the most severe physical limitations.

If anyone knows what the name of this book (or story) and/or author might be, please respond. It has been driving me bonkers for years trying to think of the title!!!

  • Which Jeep Is The Best Buy?

This is for a leased Jeep. My husband and I will be sharing this vehicle. We do mostly city/suburban driving. We do take a long distance vacation about once or twice during the duration of the lease.

We currently have a 2004 Buick Regal with leather interior. It only has about 41,000km (25,477 miles) on it. We'd like to stick with leather seats because we have two dogs...no children...and leather is easier to clean.

We aren't really interested in the Jeep Wrangler because of the size and insurance costs. We've test driven the 2008 Compass, 2008 Patriot, 2008 Liberty, and 2008 Grand Cherokee Diesel. We're really leaning toward the Patriot Limited or the Liberty Limited.

We've test driven the Buick Allure and we like it well enough, but there is far too much cheap and easily scratchable plastic "burled wood" trim. If we were to get the Allure, I'm afraid I'd feel that I paid good money for a car I didn't get. (We really love our Regal but the lease is about to run out)

  • Gluten Free Baking?

My hubby just found out he has to be gluten free for the rest of his life. His birthday is coming up and I need a good gluten free birthday cake recipe. He is also allergic to chocolate. Also, does anyone know of a gluten free cake flour or gluten free cake flour recipe? He really is picky about texture so if you know of a flour that isn't "grainy" that would be fantastic! Please help. We just got the diagnosis last week!!!

  • Kitchen Aid Marshmallow Rolled Fondant Recipe?

I've enrolled in the Wilton's Course 3 cake decorating course and we're supposed to bring a batch of rolled fondant to the first class. I COULD buy the Wilton's rolled fondant, but I've heard that it doesn't taste that great. One of the Wilton's instructors told me that homemade marshmallow rolled fondant tastes much better. My question is, does anyone have a good recipe for marshmallow rolled fondant that I can make in my Kitchen Aid mixer? Detailed instructions would be very appreciated!
