  • What is this black build up under my cat's back claws?

Underneath my cat's back claws is this black build up of something. I can't figure out what it is. The nail seems to grow around it to protect it on both sides. Sometimes it will flake off when I trim her nails.

  • Does anyone remember that patriotic song about the Gulf War?

First off, I know for sure that the song I am thinking of isn't "God Bless the U.S.A.". The song I am thinking of wasn't really a song, more like speech set to music. I think the theme of the song was something along the lines of "we are going to get you Saddam".

  • Does anyone own an English Mastiff?

I am a volunteer foster parent for an animal shelter. I have just taken in an adult male English Mastiff. He is very much underweight (112 lbs.) and I am taking him in so that he can get healthy enough to be adopted. He is very well behaved for a stray and hasn't shown any signs of aggression (not even to my cats. he just wanted to sniff them, but we are taking precautions). I was just looking for tips to put healthy weight on him that isn't too expensive. I am also looking for training tips on establishing myself as the alpha. I have worked with big dogs before, but could always use a few pointers. Any other tips would be great. I have done a bit of research, but there is nothing wrong with being well informed.

  • What does it mean when you are called in for a third job interview with the CEO?

I have had two really great interviews with this one company. It is a small firm of about 20 people. I don't think that the CEO would waste his time to tell me I didn't get the job. I figure i am either a top choice or they are going to make me an offer. I have been doing my best to remain optimistic in my job search as well as not assuming that something is a sure thing. I would like to know other people's opinions or see if anyone has been in a similar situation.

  • How would you feel if the person you were seeing has sleepovers with opposite sex friends?

The issue is resolved, so I don't need advise. I am just curious if the person you were seeing, not exclusively, told you that every once and a while their opposite sex friend stays over and sleeps in their bed. They claim that it is purely platonic and nothing ever has or does happen. Assume that you believe them. How would you feel? And now assume that you doubt that nothing happens, how would you feel?

  • Can anyone recommend ways to eat healthy on a road trip?

I just took a road trip down to FL to visit a family member that was ill. The trip was last minute, so I didn't have time to plan. I had to eat fast food on the way there and back. I have another trip coming and I don't want to eat the same way. I don't have a lot of room for a big cooler. I have a little one. I was thinking like some nuts for snacks. Any first hand experiences of eating health on the road will be greatly appreciated.

  • How much does it cost to fly pets unaccompanied?

I am looking to fly two cats unaccompanied from Chicago to Seattle. I just want to know what is an approximate fare that people have paid so I know when I start calling airlines what a good price should be. I have looked at a bunch of sites and airline homepage and there is nothing specific on price, but I am very well informed about guidelines with kennels, feedings and such.
