  • Why did Answers change my "correct answer" % from 71 to 50?

I had a score of 71% but the new format lowered it to 50%. Is this new format from the Obamacare Web designers?

  • Who do you trust the economy to, Obama or Gates and Buffet?

Our president says we need to raise the minimum wage, while Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have come out against it, saying it would hurt the economy. Both Gates and Buffet use to support Pres, Obama... What happened?

  • Why a square grip on a tennis racket?

I bought a "Bancroft Fort" wooden tennis racket at a flea market for $5.00. I bought it to be a wall hanger because my hero, Rod Laver, used one. I tried to use it once and found it to have a tiny square grip... with the sides about 1 inch. I had never seen a square grip before, it this normal? What was the point?

  • What do the police need to stop me?

I have a military vehicle (think Jeep) with a fold down windshield. It is not inspected at this time. If I fold down the windshield the police can not see if it is inspected, or licensed. Can they stop me just to check, or do I need to do something wrong for probable cause? (I need to drive it to a garage for brake work so I can have it inspected)

  • Can you provide step by step instructions for replacing VW rubber brake lines?

This is for a 73 Model 181 Thing, but I expect it is the same as a Beetle's. I can't find my manual. Are there some metal clips I have to deal with? Does the new line just screw in? This would be the driver's side front.

  • Checking the Main Jet in an Air Cooled VW?

Fuel is not reaching the bowl of the Carb on my 73 VW. If I put a little in the bowl the thing fires up until that runs out even though the little tank with the Main Jet is full. Does this sound like a plan? Take the main jet out and refill the tank with gas. If it runs out then the jet is stopped up but the passage in the carburetor is ok. If it doesn't run out then it is stopped up and the main jet MIGHT also be stopped up. Does this sound like a reasonable way to check the flow?

  • What is the best way to pad an instrument case to prevent damage?

In building a musical instrument case I want 2 inches of foam between the instrument and the wooden sides in all directions. Should I use the same soft foam all the way around, or have soft foam next to the instrument with about 2 different less soft foams to decelerate the contents in the event of a fall. I know this sounds like a school project but this is a "real world" question.

  • Is this how orchestras fire people?

I think an orchestra should hire or fire anyone they wish, its their right. That said, I was in the Laredo Tx philharmonic for 20+ years. Here is the process they used to fire me. They would always send us our music ahead of time unless we were not playing. As a 4th horn they didn't always use me... I played in about 90% of the concerts. So the season starts, and no music. The second concert I was near the office so I asked the conductor for my folder, he said I wasn't going to be in that concert...... ok. Then several months pass and a fellow player I ran into informed me I had been replaced. Is that the norm? Fire a guy after 20 years and not even bother to tell them! I have had many sleepless nights trying to figure out 1.) Why I was fired and 2.) what did I do to be treated this way.

  • Volkswagen A.C. Carb not getting gas. Now what?

If I put a straw full of gas in my carburetor throat it and will start and run very well for 5 seconds or so. After that runs out it dies. It will not start by the usual method. It is getting gas to the tank bowl but it isn't going into the carburetor by itself. What do I do to fix this?

  • VW gas tank thread seal, what's best?

I am putting my gas tank back in tomorrow,* I took it out because it was leaking around the joint where the gas line threads on to the bottom of the tank. What is the best thread sealer for this? Should I use the black gasket shellac or the teflon tape? Is there something better?

  • Any ideas or information on this MYSTERY Percussion Pistol?

Years ago I was told that this percussion pistol was made out of an old rifle in the 50s. I didn't really wonder about it until I noticed a couple of things about it that got me wondering if that was the straight story. I assumed they meant it was made from a modern rifle, but the compartment that the nipple screws into looks like it has always been there. The sights show no sign of being altered. The nipple looks very small for a rifle percussion cap. The bore of the thing seems to be around .30 cal. Isn't that just too small for a percussion rifle? Another thing I don't understand is there appears to be two quarter inch holes filled in on the butt of the pistol with dowels. That is very well done but I can still make them out. There is a hole for the ramrod but it is missing. So I guess my question is: Was this converted from a modern rifle, a percussion small bore rifle or has it always been a pistol? What year would you assign to this?

  • Why is the grip so small on this DUNLOP Fort racket?

I was taught by my father to play tennis in the 60s. I was never very good though I still play. My hero back then was Rod Laver, the red rocket. He used a Dunlop Fort so I have kept my eyes open for one, more out of hero worship than anything. I just wanted to own a piece of the action. Anyway, I found one about 3 years ago at a flea market for 2 bucks. I bought it and tried it out. I wouldn't really use a woody but I just wanted to try it. I found the grip to be really small and mostly square. Each side is only about an inch with a little 45 degree cut off on each side. It just feels like a square. It appears that it is really just the racket with no build up. I know there are several ways of holding the racket, is a small square grip made for one of them?

Try to keep it under 1000 words. I understand the communication problems some of you may have, but try not to resort to foul language. Thank you.

  • Obama bought my vote, should I deliver?

I am a retired teacher in Texas who bleeds Republican. I really dislike Obama and his health care plan, his stimulus, and almost anything else you can name except the death of O.B.L. A couple of months ago I got notice that Obama-care had taken over any of my medical bills over 15,000 until 2014! The reason is the Texas Teacher's Union, even though I am not a member. My problem is that if I vote Republican, there is a good chance I would lose this valuable benefit, but if I vote for Obama I will have problems with my self respect. I have had a stroke and a $40,000 bill already. My insurance paid almost all but the government plan would lower my premiums. Am I selling my vote too cheaply?

  • What's with Pan's (the goat~man) Junk?

After looking at a several pre BC Roman statues of Backus and Pan, I noticed something odd about Pan. His penis is depicted in a J shape curling to the left. Other gods look pretty norman in the manhood department. These statues were by several artists but all showed Pan's goathood (?) in the same manner. What's the story here?

  • aircooled VW main jet missing?

Ok, the main jet is located behind a brass plug on the little gas holding tank behind the carb... correct? Well, I took out the plug and then went after the jet and my screwdriver went right into the tank!! There was no jet at that location, have you ever heard of it being somewhere else? This is on a 74 Thing. I have no recollection of taking out the jet and the Thing ran the last time I tried it..... fairies?
