I found out today that of the 4 television providers in my area, only AT&T U-verse has a deal to broadcast the new SEC Network. Comcast, Dish Network and Direct TV "currently have no plans to add the SEC Network to their channel lineups". The reason? Cost, of course. ESPN, who owns the SEC Network, want to charge providers $1.30 per subscriber to carry the network but the TV providers do not want to pay that. They are going to pass the charges on to the consumers anyway, so how about giving us a network we actually WANT to watch!?!

Currently, I have $140.00/month for my service. I do not watch even half of the stuff that is on. I know that is a lot to pay, but that is the lowest package that I can have to get my channels.I mainly watch HBO (Game of Throne/Boardwalk Empire) and my sports package. I'm not into "reality" tv or all the predictable sticoms or news that is always on. I love the fall when I can watch a football all day, everyday on Sat. I follow 3 teams closely but I enjoy watching all the games.

If you have Comcast, Direct or Dish, I urge you to request they add the service. You can call or visit the SEC network site and do a request from there.

I have been taking antibiotics for a week. I thought I should be feeling better by now but I am still hurting. Should I wait a few more days to see what happens or go back to the doctor immediately?

I am so bad at writing these. I can write about what I accomplished last year but I have so much trouble coming up with a) employee performance goals and b) employee professional/career goals.

I think the trouble is that my job never *really* changes. Occasionally, I may get a task that outside the norm, but not very often. Also, my supervisor and I have never sat down before I have to write my review to go over any ideas he may have. I asked to do this once and, I swear, his exact works were "Just write down something and I will add anything I think needs to be there." So, as you can see, he is not very helpful.

I know this should not be this hard but this is one of the things I am *bad* at. I am out for the next 2 weeks on FMLA due to surgery. He sent me the form today (Wed) and asked to have it back by Friday.

Another thing is that the employee professional/career goals section is supposed to be "optional" but if you don't put down a minimum of 3 goals, it is sent back to you and you are asked to add these. Ugh. Why put optional if they are manadatory??

Do any of you have any, simple, basic ideas for a performance goal that I could use to get me started? Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated.

What does that stand for? I tried looking it up on the internet but all the searches all come up with Private First Class or something about Fort Knox. Surely, they are some real Army Wives or current or ex military on Answers that can tell me what abbreviation means? I know they are moving but what does the abbreviation stand for?

My family is struggling, just like many others. I tried to apply for food stamps but they said I make $152 too much. Do they think $152 is going to buy groceries for my family for a month?

I don't understand why they use "gross" income to determine eligibility! Do the people making these rules not understand that "gross" income is NOT what we bring home? If I got to bring my gross income home and not have to pay taxes then I wouldn't need the help! I see all these people not working, not even trying to work, all they do is lay around, do drugs, have a baby every year and they get food stamps, medicaid and a check every month! I work 40 hours a week, have been working since I was 15 and pay taxes that I know is used to support all those other folks, yet when I need a little help to make it through the tough times, I can't get any.

If I quit my job, started smoking dope, shack up with an illegal alien and have a baby every year, would I get some help then? Why are hard working Americans denied help when we need it?

I really need your help. It's time for our annual performance reviews (ugh!). I have always had trouble coming up with "performance" goals. It really is a struggle for me. I feel as though I do the same things (tasks) every year and trying to come up with new performance goals is very hard for me.

Would any of you be willing to share some of your performance goals or give suggestions/examples that I could use to draft some of my own? I will be glad to share some of the ones I have used.

The first year it was not too hard to do because reviews are due in late March and I was hired for this position in early March. Basically, my goals were to learn the expectations and responsabilities of my job.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like I do the same things year after year and I am fresh out of ideas. I submitted what I thought was good goals and was told to re-do them.

I think they are so great yet they never seem to win any awards. I know others think they are awesome but it seems like if you are not Tim, Kenny or George you don't get the kudos.

I also think Jason Aldean should put his acoustic version of "Heaven" on his next CD. It was soooooo awesome when he & Bryan Adams did Crossroads together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it's that dreaded time of year again- employee performance review. My problem is trying to come up with "performance goals". I am an admin assistant and it is hard to come up with these because I do the same thing every year. Our company is also in save money mode so the professional development courses I would like to take I can not or I have to come up with the cash myself- kind of hard to do when you haven't had a raise in two years and you have a child going to college in the fall. I do like my job and, for now, I am not interested in "moving up". I have had a really rough couple of years and I would just like to be happy for awhile. Professional/career goals are optional so I am not going to complete that section this year unless my boss pushes it. Does anyone have any examples of performance goals to help my get started? Things I can refine to my particular job? I purchased the $30.00 "The Effective Admin" tip guide and workbook and it is really NOT helping me. It is mostly common sense suggestions and double-talk.

My husband and I do not spend a lot of time together. We only see each other a few hours at night. He goes to his mom's EVERYDAY and on weekends, he spends a lot of time over there. She also calls at all hours and IF he doesn't go to see her, she will call over and over until he answers the phone. She is married, has a grandchild she adopted at home, and two other children but she always calls my husband to do things for her and to confide in. I think it's weird & she's co-dependent. But if I say anything to my husband, he gets defensive and says 'no one is going to tell him he can't go see him mom, no one is going to put him on a time limit'. But if I say I am going to go out with friends, he wants me to make sure I keep my cell phone on and answer it if he calls and he acts jealous. He will make snide remarks for several days afterwards and he even went through my purse once because I didn't answer the phone when he called (I had left it in the car! BTW- he is always invited to go out with me & my friends but he always declines.)

He's not horrible all the time but I get tired of spending time alone and having to call to see when he's coming home. He is 36, married w/kids but still puts everyone else ahead of his children & wife!

I asked him to go to counseling but he refuses. Should I end my marriage or just deal with it?
