  • Wireless issues for all computers except one?! HELP!?

Before I get started, I would like to note that I am relatively noob-ish with this kind of thing. PLEASE EXPLAIN WELL. Now...

I have a Netgear Work and Play N300 router.

For a while, I've had no issues at all with this thing. Then I decided I wanted to do some living room re-arranging. In order to do so, I was going to have to unplug my Cisco cable modem and router. As soon as I got everything hooked up again, both my fiance's and my Macbook Pro can't seem to connect to the router. We get this self-assigned IP error. So then I just tried using a manual DHCP address in the event there's an IP conflict. It would work, but internet would be extremely slow and eventually drop out. I have Windows 7 on my Macbook and tried that, and it strobes between "Limited Connectivity" and "Internet Access" status. My main computer is the only one that works flawlessly. Even when it's turned off, my laptops still have this issue. I've tried everything under the sun and then some. I really don't want to keep factory-defaulting my router, because this isn't the first time I had this issue. Please, it is imperative my fiance and I have working internet on our routers. We're college students and we can't keep sharing the one working computer all of the time.

    Things I remember trying

    (obviously) resetting router/modem.

Calling tech support monkeys (they never really help).

Calling ISP (nothing they can do on their end)

    Factory resets

    Replacing modem

No matter what I try, I end up with the same eventual issue.

What gave rise to the spiritual revivals and “Great Awakenings” of the 18th-century? Make the answer somewhat lengthy and simple for my feeble mind to understand, please. And above all, don't be a jerk about it.

  • Stabbed little toe with toothpick, swollen, sore and red?

Last night, there was a toothpick laying on the floor. As I was walking, I had the misfortune of driving it a good 3 or 4 millimeters or so into my pinky toe. (I think it hit the bone, sure felt like it). It was a bit hard to pull out and hurt like the dickens. I awoke this morning to find it in a lot of pain. I had my father check it out and he said since there's no pus coming out, it's not infected. I checked the toothpick and found there was no part of it broken off, so there's nothing left inside what's now a small, but deep hole located in the crevace between my pinky toe and foot. However, after a full day of being on my feet, I took my sock off to see that my pinky toe has become quite swollen and red. There's still no pus, and the pain isn't horribly unbearable, but I'm quite honestly scared, and I guess I just need someone to settle my worries. Will my toe be okay? I won't have to get it cut open or amputated or anything will I?

  • Thumb lost all strength? What happened?

My girlfriend bought me a PlayStation 3 for my birthday (I know, pretty kickass girlfriend). Ever since, I've been almost addicted to it. Some days, while my girlfriend is at work, I'll be playing it 5 to 7 hours a day with frequent, but short breaks. Other days, I'm spending precious time with her, with an average max usage of 2 hours. Anyways, all those details are probably completely useless..sorry 'bout that. Anywho, yesterday night the lady was out with friends, so I was playing LittleBigPlanet. Eventually, I noticed that when I tried popping my index finger with my thumb, I couldn't do it. It was like my thumb had forgotten how to do it. I tried and tried and started freaking out. It was REALLY weird, and I proceeded to turn off the game for the night. An hour later, my thumb had lost 90% of it's mobility and strength. I could barely bend it let alone wiggle it. Thankfully, I woke up this morning to find that more than 70% of mobility/strength was back. Right now, it's almost completely back to normal. I'm really baffled because I've been playing FPS's on my home-built gaming computer for years. I apologize, I ramble quite a lot. If anyone is reading this, and either is a medical expert, or had this happen to them, and managed to read this without falling asleep on the keyboard. Can you please help me figure out what the hell happened? I'm completely clueless. Also, provide info on how I can avoid it.

  • Xbox 360 CD-Drive replacement question?

Recently, my girlfriend's brother's Xbox 360 CD-drive crapped out on him. It apparently stopped reading his games. So, out of anger, he kicked it against the wall. However, the damn thing still works! And he agreed to give it to me. So now I have to replace the CD-drive. Luckily, I have Xbox repair experience, since I've had to fix three other Xbox's with overheating problems already. Anyways, I went back to my home town in Texas over spring break to visit my friends and family, and snagged an Xbox 360 drive that I already had from a friend's old broken box. When I finally came back home to good ol' Iowa, I installed it to find that I've only brought it back half-way from the dead. It only play DVDs, not games. So I thought, "Hey! At least I have a free DVD player!" I've always wanted an Xbox though, and Halo 3 is never coming to PC, AND I HAVE A COPY FOR 360 for Christ's sake (don't ask why, I'm just good at getting free ****). So I figured enough is enough, I'm fixing this *****. The reason it doesn't work is obvious to me now. Simply because my friend's old Xbox was an earlier model than this one. Much earlier. So I need to buy a new drive. I've done my homework and found that Xbox's that are manufactured after June 2008, use this Philips LiteOn drive here:

    http://store.richspsxparts.com/phlidgxb360d.html

I checked the MFR date on my half zombie 360 to find it was manufactured on August 15, 2008. Great! Hooray, this might work. So pretty much my question is, if I buy this and replace it, will it bring my Xbox back from the dead? Will it play games that stupid game designers don't release for PC because they're gay and too scared to lose a little profit to pirates?

Also if someone knows a place where I can find a drive for cheaper, let me know!

  • Best moving companies?

I live in Marshalltown, Iowa with my girlfriend. I want to move back down to my home town Pflugerville, just 15 minutes north of Austin, Texas. I have a motorcycle and a bed to move down with us and I am not looking to selling them. I am looking for a moving company that does the driving for you. Not U-haul trailers, I'm talking hiring truckers to move/ship/deliver/whatever you want to call it, my bed and motorcycle back home. Any suggestions?

  • Crysis Windows 7 Professional x64 weird framerate issue.?

I've had a legit 64-bit copy of Windows 7 Professional (got it for $30 because I'm a college student) for about 2-3 weeks now. I love it to death, kudos to Microsoft. However I have one annoying issue with Crysis, as well as Crysis: WARHEAD. During gameplay, if I'm facing one way then suddenly turn 180 degrees in any other direction, my FPS drops noticeably for about 2-5 seconds, then boosts back up. It happens almost everywhere in the game where there's AI or particle effects and it's really been bugging me. I've shelled out an assload of money in the past two months just trying to get my PC to run this ******* game. This weird framerate issue is the only thing that stands in my way. I recently updated from an Asus P5n-e SLI with 2 gigs of Crucial Ballistix to new specs which are right here:

BFG Tech GTX 285 2Gb 512-bit video memory

GIGABYTE GA-EP43T-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard

    Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB DDR3 1333 PC10600

Intel Core 2 Quad processor clocked at 2.4Ghz with 8mb L2 Cache

    500Gb hard drive

    700 Watt Antec PSU

I've tried a lot of things. Ranging from disabling visual themes, downloading GameBooster, to forcing certain settings on nVidia manager. I don't have this problem with any other game. Can someone please help? Me want crysis to run well damnit! Lol. Thanks all.

  • Song from Grand Theft Auto 4?

I was playing GTA 4 on a friend's Xbox and heard the beat from "Today Was A Good Day" by Ice Cube. Obviously Ice Cube wasn't the original creator of the beat and I want to know what the song from GTA 4 with the same beat is called. So what's the darn name?

  • I've had a crush on my friend for the longest time, but don't want to anymore.?

I met this girl Tabitha after the beginning of my second semester of my Junior year in High School. She is now my best female friend and no question about it. The way she is and how comforting she can be, like the way she puts her small warm hands on my cheeks and hugs me when I'm down has gotten me to crush on her real bad. She had a boyfriend and was going out for a while at least 7 months. Eventually they broke up and I wanted to go out with her, but she just didn't see it with me. She ended up dating some guy out of no where who moved away to Washington like a month later. I guess she just had the hots for him. She decided not to date any one for a while. Even though she kind of broke my heart (I've went through 6 girlfriends so I'm used to it) I consider her my best friend. She has always been there for me and always makes me smile when my days got me down. The way she hugs me, comforts me, holds my hand and kisses me on my cheeks. I have never had a female friend like this back then. I was horribly deprived of them and horribly depressed. She overlooks my differences and is incredibly resilient, staying positive even at the most...Well, negative of times. Over the summer I began to miss her a lot. Especially when she went to New Mexico for two weeks. I got my driver's license and went to her house a lot after she got back. Met her family and got to know so much. I found that every time I got back from her house, I started to like her more. Occasionally she wouldn't mind cuddling either. But she has no intentions or feelings to go out with me and I know it for sure. So I decided to just stay best friends with her. But I like her still, and I honestly don't want to anymore. I don't want to crush on her anymore. But I DO NOT want to have to resort to stop talking to her altogether. I love this girl and I will not under any circumstances just ignore her. Ever. My question is: has anyone out there went through the same thing and actually succeeded in getting over their best friend? And what should I do to follow in those steps?

  • Why can't a get a girlfriend.?

I just had to break up with a girl. Sixth girlfriend. Sixth failed attempt. And now I'm pretty much dumbfounded on why I can't get a girlfriend and manage a good relationship. I'm a Senior in high school. I'm 17 and I still haven't gotten far. Farthest was with a little Vietnamese gal back in my Sophomore year. Small pecks on lips...She left me for another guy. And things went downhill from there. And now my mind is a cataract of miserable thoughts and feelings. I am an okay looking guy. I'm kind of fat, but very strong too. I'm the nicest guy you'll ever know. A musician and an artist. I'm smart, funny, talented and outgoing. But I can't get a ******* girlfriend. It has brought me to the conclusion that you cannot be perfect in life and get away with it. Look at Albert Einstein. He didn't talk til' he was like what? 10? And was a lazy **** in school. Nikola Tesla was OCD as hell and believed a pigeon was his wife. You just can't be perfect. There's always a deficiency and mine is girls

  • Panic! At The Disco...?

So I listened to Panic! At The Disco, and they weren't too bad at all. In fact if they come on the radio I definitely don't mind listening. My best friend Tabitha is madly addicted to them. She calls them her boys, it's kind of funny. But there's one thing I don't understand. What's the big hype about them? I texted Tabitha the same question and she gave me a rather mundane answer. "Psh they are amazing! Their music is very creative and different. And They're so young *cries* My boys!" When I first listened I pictured the singer as some skinny black-haired emo dude, whose voice sounds no different than All American Rejects's or Fall out Boy's singer. Same image too. I just don't see the difference in how they sound. Maybe I don't listen to that type of music enough. But still, what's the big hype?

  • Computer not turning on...?

I brought my computer to my friend's house so we can LAN it up. As soon as I arrived and set my computer up, his was not turning on. He just recently moved it from his dad's room to his room. He said it was working fine in his dad's room, but when he was fixing to move it, he just held down the power button instead of going to Start & Shutdown. He's using Windows XP, he has an Abit KN1-SLI. We tried switching his PSU on and off, we switched it around to 115V. We tried everything. We even tried using a different PSU, which did not work. He said when he tried turning it on, he heard a high pitched sound. Almost like the sound the Road-Runner makes. I heard it too. It was very high pitched. We think we blew both PSU's but when we checked them, they were fine. We even unplugged the contacts on the motherboard and tried turning it on by touching a screw driver to the power contact. We tried resetting the BIOS. WE TRIED EVERYTHING. And nothing but failure. Anyone please have any suggestions

  • Rate My PC?

Got new parts for it about 2 months ago. In fact the only thing I'm using from my old PC is my PSU, which I've had for almost 4 years. It still works wonderfully. Now on a scale from one to ten, with ten being the highest, RATE MAH PC!!!

    Motherboard: Asus P5N-E/nFORCE 650i

    GPU: MSI Radeon 3870 512Mb/256-bit

CPU: Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6600/8Mb Cache/2.4 Ghz

    Harddrive: WD Cavier SE16 500Gb SATA/3Gb/s 10,000RPM

    RAM: 2x1Gb Crucial DDR2 800

    Drive: Emperex 16X Dual DVD

    PSU: 500W Dynex.

Monitor: 22' Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW/2ms response time/ 8000:1 Dynamic Contrast.

And one more thing. Don't say anything like "Pfff a 3 compared to mine!" I don't care your PC does 35 trillion calculations per second. It's not about your PC you ******' wanker!

  • Splinter Cell Double Agent Otkhost Level?

I got Splinter Cell Double Agent. Beat the first two levels but I'm sadly stuck at the beginning of the Otkhost level,( or however you spell it). It's that level where you have to capture and take over that supertanker. I'm stuck at the part RIGHT after you jump out of the airplane, your primary chute doesn't deploy properly and the little minigame kicks in where you have to press the directional keys to get the secondary to deploy. For some reason, my chute doesn't deploy, at first I tried tapping W on the keyboard as fast as I can(that's how I did it on the demo and it worked fine). Tried the same method I used in the demo. Fell to my death. Tried pressing WASD repeatedly. Fell to my death. Tried holding down W. Fell to my death. Tried nothing. Not even going to say it again. What order do you press your directional keys, please help me I want to get this damn level out of the way. Why was I able to beat that on the demo but not the real game. Thanks for the help everyone.

  • Did I mess up my motherboard?

I'm a dumbass. A true dumbass. bought new parts and new MB:

    Asus P5n-E

    Intel Q6600

    OCZ DDR2 800 2 gigs.

Anyway. I've been having problems with my comp. I would play a game and the game would crash within 15-30 minutes of playing. I read that my motherboard was very picky with RAM. Some claimed that if you change the timings to 4-4-4-12 in the BIOS, it fixed it all. I did that. Well I tried. I just found 4 things on auto, changed three of them to 4, and the last to 12. Didn't fix a damn thing. I returned to the memory timing options in the BIOS to find an Advanced option with more options to change. Stupid me, not even knowing what I was doing figured, why not change them ALL to the number 4 and the last to 12. Saved the options, rebooted the comp. Nothing. My screen was black. The num-lock lights don't light up, my sensor mouse doesn't light up, the only thing happens is my computer running. Did I screw up my mtherboard completelty and will I have to buy a new one? Please Help!

  • Will a new processor increase GPU performance as well?

I have a 3 year old motherboard, it's an Asus A8n Deluxe SLI. I have an AMD Athlon FX-57 2.6 GHz processor. I just bought new RAM, CORSAIR 2 Gigs PC3200 my motherboard only fits 184-pin anyway. I also bought a new GPU Radeon 3870 512 Mb of GDDR4 in hopes of MUCH improved game performance, and my games ARE much improved. My friend has the same card, but much newer parts and his games run like a beaut. My problem is my games don't run as fast as his and I think I need a new processor. I've had my eyes on the AMD FX-60 because it's dual core and is 939 socket which is all that fits. However I don't know if that will improve my performance, or if I need an entirely new motherboard. In that case I would have thrown away 119 dollars for that RAM I bought to have to buy new RAM and new processor. I'm not only talking about parts of games with too much AI, but parts of games that have a lot of graphical effects happening at once. If I buy that processor maybe that will make everything faster?
