I am having trouble growing coconuts in Animal Crossing for the WII.?

I have picked up three coconuts during the last three weeks and have tried to grow a coconut palm one square up from the beach but all three trees have died. I have selected a spot that was two sqaures from any other tree. Is there a different way to grow these trees? The Wii manual did not have any hints on this. - Thank You

I watered one of them and did not water the others - On the positive front, I received a foreign fruit (apple) in the mail and I have started growing apples - our home town fruit is orange

Hi, I had trouble when I tried to do it but if you plant them on the beach next to the sea it should work. Also, make sure you water them at least once and make sure the water goes in the right place as it is hard to get it in the right place sometimes. Hope it works!
