MATH so confusing Help please!?

ok i saw this probally and im confused on how its done can some one give me the answers.......:


In 1998, a 17-year brood and a 13-year brood both emerged in Missouri.
a. How many years will pass before they emerge together again?
b. What year will it be?
c. Suppose these two broods are the only cicadas that emerge in Missouri. Before 1998, how many years had passed without adult cicadas in Missouri? Explain.

also these for question c they are 17 and 13 year cicadas! forgot to put that little detail in....lol

Since 17 and 13 are mutually prime, the next time they will emerge together will be in 17*13 = 221 years. This will be the year 2219.

erm...I can't answer c because I do not know the life cycle of cicadas. Check with an entymologist.
