How can I budget/save money around the house and on household items?

My boyfriend recently was laid off, so we have to survive on only my income for a while. I'd like to know some money saving tips on things around the house so we can manage as best as we can. We already do things like shutting off things that use power, taking short showers, and I use vinegar and water to clean instead of constantly buying expensive cleaning products. I also use cheap conditioner instead of buying shaving cream. We try to use coupons and buy cheaper groceries, but it is still tough. Do you know of any money saving tips that can help us get through this time?

Money is extremely tight, so any little thing will help.
Thank you :-)

You can make your own detergents for a lot less.

Don't let your BF sit around waiting for a job. It can become depressing. If you live in or around a major city have a look on Craigslist in the free section. People give away stuff every day that's worth money. I can't even start to tell you how much I've made selling on eBay by getting stuff for free. At least if he is causing a little money to come in it will help keep his spirits up.
