What is some advice for shy girls?

I'm friends with this girl, she's really cute, but when I gave her a Valentine, she started to act really shy.  Then a friend told me she is "super-shy", but I didn't even know because she never acted like that around me.  I knew she was reserved, but not shy if that helps at all.

I think it's cute that she is shy, even though I am shy, but I find it more difficult to approach her now.  Even after she started to become less shy than she was a week ago, I just feel too pressured to start a relationship.  I'm not too concerned about that though, I truly just want the best for her, whether she's with me or not.

This is my first girl I've ever liked and I'm almost 21 years old, what can you make of this?  She is from South America too.

Take it slowly for both of your sakes, but you can show her that you are interested.

Smile at her when you see her - say 'hello' when you see her, even if it is in passing.

You say that 'she started to become less shy than she was a week ago', which I take it means that she appreciated your Valentine's Day card, so that's really good. 
I think that by being friends first, you will find out if there is something more for you both or not, but it certainly seems from what you have said that she is not unhappy that you have shown an interest in her.

Be yourselves - take time to get to know each other - don't be afraid to express to her that you are shy - honesty is the best policy and it helps both of you to know some 'ground rules'
I hope that you can get to know her better because it sounds really promising .

Approach the girl and since you're friends with her, make her feel comfortable and that show her that you are not violating her space or anything, then there is also the fine line of being a friend and someone who has an interest on having a relationship so good luck with that, never make her feel that you're only interested as friends. Whenever she's around tell her that it makes you feel very comfortable. I know it's a slow process but if she is really that shy moving on her too fast is a no-no, but too slow and maybe you'd loose her to somebody else.

The real question is, do you want her???? Cuz she obviously fancies you mate. Just take it smoothly, like if you fancy her ask her on a date and then go from there! But yes she digs you mate
