Someone explain "simply", the reason for drastic change in gasoline prices that happen over night?

Two days ago I paid $3.09/gal. This morning, it's $3.37/gal. How can it flucuate so much...is there really a legitamate reason?
(I notice it's all the same - government owned-in MX. ~ good or bad?)

The oil companies are making sure that they get all they can out of us. Crude oil goes up and they immediately raise prices.. Doesn't matter that the new oil hasn't got to the pumps -
