You got several reasons so you pick the best reason for helping a total stranger out, I would Rather have a total stranger answer my question then have someone real close to me know I got a problem that I can't work out, and get all up in my business, beside some good answers do come from a stranger, they have nothing to loose if what they say hurts your feelings.

Because we're getting answers from total strangers and asking total strangers. This is like the help line, and i don't know about addiction, but it's real helpful.

Excellent question. I've only asked one question since I started coming here and I know that is not because I don't want to. It's because I'm addicted to raising my point level and asking questions isn't getting me there faster. But answering questions provides something else for me as well.

Shortly after the Internet became publicly accessible I started feeling that this new medium of communication was a natural evolution of what makes us human. I've been waiting for something to emerge that allows the entire human race to interact in new ways that will somehow counter the negativity and the "Us and Them" thinking that plagues our planet. I tried chat rooms and quickly found those to be ineffective for what I am looking for. Answering questions here and reading what others are asking and answering is the closest thing I have seen so far to the vision I have for where we need to go next. I feel a need to connect on a higher level with the entire race, not just my family, or people who are like me in some way. I'm looking for something. Aren't we all? Doesn't this just feel like it's the next logical step? Isn't it exciting to be here now, and to see what will come next?

    I'm diggin' it!

Source(s): Somewhere deep inside me. That place where we are all connected.

Several reasons. I like answering the medical/health questions because I'm a nurse and I like to help and educate people.

I like to answer the religious/spiritual questions because the subject fascinates me. I would also like to educate people as to some of the erroneous ideas people have about religion.

I am fascinated by what questions people ask, what answers are given, and which are chosen as "best answers". I think it is very telling about people's personalities. A little window into the mind.

I think it's cool to get a variety of opinions on a topic.Yahoo gives us a unique opportunity to look into and paticipate in other people's lives and issues. It makes us feel like there are other people w/similar questions. It's fun see people from different walks of life respond to a person's.There are some real sarcastic and funny people out there that I get a kick out of.

i comprehend what you mean. I basically extremely starting off asking questions immediately contained in the Polls & Surverys section. This section is relaxing, yet will be addictive. bypass to a unique section, you'll substitute, some will be brutal. :)

Stimulation. Self exploration. Ease of finding like minds. Self development. Connection with impersonal casualness.

it helps others for we all have big egos and think we are helping, but maybe were aren't. It is something new to do. We all like attention and it is fun sometimes depends on if the younger kids on here are asking stupid questions about if there b/f or g/f like them or wanna kiss them...etc...those questions are stupid. We are not mind readers.

It gives us validation when someone likes our answers. Plus, it gives us the human contact that we all crave without the work of relationships or the risk of rejection. (Okay, if you ask a terrible question, you may suffer a little rejection.)

And for me, it feeds my analytical hunger and keeps me from being a chatterbox at work.

I always wanted to be a writer, but I never even got started and I don't know how. But I use my own personal experience and opinion to answer all these strange questions. It's fun!.....)(
