If you had the power to.....?

If you had the power to go back in time and change one thing, just one event, what would you chose to change? Would you change anything? Why?

No. The reason why I'm here and answering this question is because I did things in my past that I regret or even hated. These things that we have been hating and want to get back at or rewind are the reasons we are who we are today.

If ever we regret the fact that we are who we are, it is the same thing as regreting what we chose before. Because if you ever wanted to undo the bad things that occured to you, there is no way to redo the good things, or even bring back the times after you changed your fate.

Remember that Simpson's episode in which Homer turned his toaster into a time travel machine? That's a pretty good projection of how messed up things could get if anyone changed past events.

"Oh I wish I wish I hadn't killed that fish." --Homer

Although there is this great book by Orson Scott Card about two scientists who go back in time to play God and convince Columbus not to sail to the Americas. Supposedly this allowed the more peaceful civilizations to advance and catch up to Europe and develop a non-aggressive, better world. Sounds like a good idea.

he that wins the war writes the history,so how do we really know whats fact or fiction?you could eliminate substantial figures throughout history-Hitler,Stalin,Columbus,Christ,Moses,Alexander,Napoleon.ALL would cause tremendous change to our society and the world as we know it.you couldn't change just one event.you could stop the Kennedy assassination and the U.S. CONSTITUTION would still be valid today.if you took Ford out of the equation you would change the world.I don't think you could change one event without the snowball effect.if you did it could take out the chances of the person that had this power of even being created.

Boy, that's a toughie. What one change in a person's life could possibly counteract all the bad outcomes, make up for all the foolish choices, make it posible to live again, to start out fresh and new and full of hope...? why, one would have to ask to be born again!

The 9/11 attacks. Don't think I need to elaborate why but just to answer your question I will. Save 3,000+ innocent lives and prevent the stupid war in Iraq (although W had that on his agenda anyway).

I would go back and redo my freshman year of college. I believe I slacked off a little and I could be further now and closer to graduating if I took at least one more class per semester.

no, the ramifications of changing something in the past could be (and probably would be) greater then I (or anyone) could understand...some history sucks...some is great...but through it all it got us here...we don't want to know where we'd be if it had changed..is my guess

I would club to death the first person to talk about religion.

Why? Because it has been the single cause of more death, pain, and destruction than any other single thing ever.
