Freedom of Speech?

The people who had a fit about the Dixie Chicks were red necks who voted for Bush. Those are now the people who want him impeached! Nothing wrong with them voicing their opinion, they did their American duty exercising their freedom of speech.

When we use freedom of speech as a child, and deliberately hurt someone, our parents are trying to teach us that we need to exercise that with caution. To use any freedom carelessly is wrong. We need to be as mature and sensitive as possible, yet not censure ourselves into submission to what we do not believe in.

The example you give is not a violation of our right to freedom of speech. They had every right to voice their opinion. Those who disagree with them also have a right to voice their opinions.

The problem lately is that the country (most often hardline conservatives) have somehow come to the conclusion that to say anything against this country or govt is somehow unpatriotic. They are the ones then who made death threats toward the Chicks etc.

Freedom of Speech is guaranteed by the govt, but citizens don't HAVE to listen to anyone express it if they don't want to (I don't have to attend a Klan meeting for instance - but the govt cannot refuse them a forum if requested and given to other groups).

ALL of the media only shows that which will get them ratings or sell papers and get them more money. They too have some control over what they show or listen too.

When I complain about the Dixie Chicks, I'm expressing my Freedom of Speech. They can say what they want, but they can't expect people to stand by it.

You are trying to oppress my rights by saying I can't complain about them.

I feel that I still have freedom of speach as I force the issue. I will not be censored even by neo-cons, when they lower my cold body down in the ground, they will have nothing but good to say about me so what is the differance.

They have the right to say what they want, as do I to say they are retarded. I also have the right to say I won't buy their music, as does anyone else. They can continue to prove how ignorant they are as much as they want...no one stops them. Criticizing them is not restricting them. They can't take the heat, they should stay out of the kitchen. They started it by trying to make a politcal statement.

It's not just in America where speech is censored, it's a global issue.

It's the idea that you can't offend anyone with what you say, even if it is the truth. You can send soldiers to Iraq to die for a Vietnam rerun, go oil crazy and let your own people suffer. Don't be mad at Bush, he hasn't called anyone out their name yet.

Yeah that is kind of right all people do think different about everything but you just have to go on and just do your best to be hurd but and the same way just dont listen to what everbody says they just think that they know it all.....
