for me a college education is a top priority in my life at this point....after being out of high school for 21 yrs I decided to start college after hearing from various ppl in my life that I won't ever amount to anything....why go to college when you'll never finish etc.I decided to go to college to prove those ppl wrong and to prove to myself that yes I can do it........a high school diploma is good enough if you want to work low paying jobs but a college degree will get you a higher paying job

A college education doesn't guarantee you a good job, but it opens doors that would otherwise be closed. In order to get a job that pays well enough for you to make a decent living, you must have either (a) a college education, (b) specialized training in your field, like vocational training, (c) actual experience doing the job, or (d) a combination of the three. Most employers won't even consider you for a job if you don't have a college degree or specialized training and/or experience in the field you're applying to. The degree that you get at the end of a 4-year program tells an employer that you have the discipline and perseverance to get that degree, and that goes a long way in a job interview. So unless you want to spend the rest of your life working twice as hard someone else and making half as much, get a college education or go through a vocational/technical training program.

Actually, depends on you. If you think you qualify better for an employment then a college education could get you a beter job.

If the entrepreneurial spirit and self motivation are your strengths, the money spent on college (being as ridiculously high) is better invested in a business. Even if the business fails you would have learnt something more valuable than you could have from college.

On the other hand, if you are rich to begin with and can afford college without going into debt, consider college as a pleasant journey that is best experienced when you break out of teenage.

A high school diploma and a college education are VERY!!! important. Y would you drop out of high school and not go to college? If you don't get your diploma you could end up working at a restraunt or something and still living with your parents! My advice DON'T drop out and GET your diploma so that you WILL be able to get a college education and not be living with your parents because you have a high paying job that YOU qualify for.

Depends on what job you get. I have a college education, but when no one would hire me, I ended up working for the Post Office, and I didn't even need a High School diploma for that., But if you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, a High School diploma won't do.

Alot of people make good money without a college education. What a college education does is makes it easier to find a new job if you lose your current job. For instance if you work for a manufacturing company for 20 years and then are laid off. If you haved a degree you can begin a new job at the same level you left the last one. With no degree you would begin near bottom.

First of all LEARNING should never stop, whether self sought, or by ways otherwise,,,IE: Osmosis.

The importance is pretty obvious...and is akin to evolution of the species and the individual.

You get what you pay for is also important,,,as it will be to those who may someday employ you, or connect at a gathering where you might actually KNOW what they are talking about and be able to converse.

I'm highly educated, with multiple degrees, with a pretty decent IQ. That doesn't mean I've closed off to enlightenment. I don't impose that on others, nor do I even USE it in my every day, concsiusly.

That suggests that education need not be imposed on others in an ego trip. We learn, primarily for US, and in turn we may also Learn as we TEACH.

Define if you have to,,,how you want your life plan to progress. Will you be satisfied with low levels of knowledge, employment, income, acceptance, and sharing what you know possibly with others????

NO REAL OFFENSE MEANT HERE,,, I am blue collar now, not strictly using more than life education and experience, but to learn is to expand,,,on all levels. Don't you want to???????

Forget about college. In North America who you know is more important. too many educated people now looking for work at WalMart. With most major multi-nationals now outsourcing as well white collar jobs are toast and careers, well ................. forget about them. Corporate loyalty is no more and increasingly the rock star culture see's impeciles like Tommy Lee going back to college. Education used to matter it doesn't anymore so get a trade and make real money. Besides it's more fun being an idiot in North America than being an intellectual just ask Tommy Lee.

You won't get too far on a high school diploma. College, or any school of higher education, teaches one how to think progressively. Its not about the diploma, it's always been about the education.

no, college of course is way better. getting a degree in anything will surely get a heads up of your future boss. remember, just keep going to school and get a degree. you don't have to get a job that has to do with your degree. be patient and suck it up, that's what i'm doing...and you won't regret it in the future.
