Depends how much time you have to spend with an animal. If you work long hours, then a cat is definately a better pet than a dog. They are much less demanding of attention and don't mind being left alone as much as dogs do.

Also, dogs require lots of training--house breaking, learning manners etc. Cats come pretty much trained...

Because they make better pets. And tolerate being left alone during the work day, much better than dogs do. There is no waking up at 6am to let the dog out to go to the bathroom, cats use a litter box. No slobber. Plus, cats purr and that is just about the most soothing sound in the world.

You most def should not. First off, with dogs, you have a much wider selection. Also, you don't have to deal with a litter box, have you ever cleaned a litter box? Probably not if you're asking this question. Dogs don't have hair balls like cats. Cats tend to shed more than dogs. Cats will not do tricks or pretty much listen to what you say. I say you get either a Rat Terrier with a white body and brown paws and face and name him professor(his fur makes it look like he's wearing a lab coat) or you get a Rhodesian Ridgeback and name her Brewster(Punky Brewster-Punk-mohawk-the Ridgebacks have a tuft of fur running down their backs). OOOH! Or you could go with the fastest endurance runner on the planet, the Saluki! You could name it Paws McCool(I don't know why). Or, you could get a dappled wire hair dacshund and name him Hans for my dearly departed doggy who had a funny overbite. So many choices! I can't have a pet without paying a big deposit. got to http://www.akc.org/breeds/breeds_a.cfm and just start browsing from there, or even get a mutt, they're always fun and have lots of energy and live longer. Or you could get a cat and clean up a litter box, have it tear your coach to pieces, and eventually start spraying everywhere. Plus, if you ever want to have kids, your wife, girl friend, person you know, stranger etc can't be ANY NEAR the litter box or there's a chance your kid will be a retard or a jerk.

I'm a dog person myself, but cats are more independant. You can be gone all day without having to rush home to let them out. Although, my Miniature Pinscher is litter trained, so I have the same freedom as cat owners.

I think cats are easier to take care of than dogs. You don't have to bathe them and walk them regularly. They require less attention in general, and are not as noisy as dogs. Also, they use the litter box, so you don't have to worry about accidents.

Less work. Cats are very self sufficient. YOu can leave them lots of food if you go out of town for a bit. They poo in boxes. They're independent, so you don't have to dote on them.. unless you wanna. But dogs rule too.

Well, there is a parasite that lives in cats that some scientist believe may be linked with schizophrenia, and we all know how much fun schizophrenia is.

Being insane with a cat is much better ...

well, its cheaper for one thing, you dont have to buy a fence, doghouse, or a leash. cats are somewhat sanitary and use the litter box, where as dogs...will just poop on the carpet or the lawn. cats are quiet and require little attention.

to me cats are cleaner pets than dogs. if you notice when a cat have to go to the bathroom they will clean up after themselves, and they will clean their face in the morning, so i say cat.
