My mom has a cat that is constantly peeing everywhere in the house.?

She has tried cleaning the areas and moving the litter box. She has talked to the vet and they were no help. If anyone else has had this problem could you please give us some advice. Thanks!!!

Update:

The cat has already been neutered that is why we an't understand his behavior. Thanks

spray diluted lemon juice around the house. Real Lemon is good too. If the cat keeps urinating in those spots use a stronger concentration. The sent will fade so you should reapply weekly. Its a strong scent to a cats nose and they won't 'mark' over it. Good luck

Large male cats can suffer from urinary problems. If a male cat has had urinary problems (similiar to us getting a urinary tract infection where you feel the urge to go but only dribble), the cat will associate that discomfort with using the litterbox. So if your cat has been deemed healthy by a vet, you have other issues to deal with. Try using a different kind of litter, try clumping, non-clumping, scented litter can sometimes offend cats. Try using several litterboxes with different litter and note which one it uses. Keeping the cat in a closed room with a litterbox will do nothing. Even though the cat maybe using the box, chances are it will go back to not using the box once it's out of the room. Where ever the cat has urinated must be thoroughly cleaned or it will continue to soil that area. Go to Petsmart where you will find several products made especially for cat urine stains, although you may think it clean the cat can still smell the stain.

Cats are certainly creatures of habit, has anything changed in your home, new carpet, new baby, new boyfriend, another cat? Sometimes they feel threatened with change and will mark their territory to establish dominance.

In any event, do not give or attempt to surrender the cat for adoption, shelters have enough trying to find homes for cats that do use the litterbox, besides why would you make your problem someone else's problem. Giving it away will only frustrate the next owners who may decide just to dump the cat somewhere to fend for itself. If you love the cat and can't find or fix the problem, have the cat euthanized, humanely, for the sake of the animal.

I am an animal lover and I ADORE cats... But... If the vet can't help because there's nothing physically wrong with the cat, if the cat has been fixed and still refuses to stick to the litter box, I would get rid of the cat or make it be an outdoor pet. Seriously. Don't let it destroy the house.

Try another vet for a second opinion. Also, is it a Persian cat? Many Persians and similarly flat-faced cats, due to bad breeding for the flat face, have lost the ability to be litter trained.

Get the cat to a vet, and get the cat spayed or neutered, then put you, the cat, and the litter box, in the bathroom, lock the door, and keep putting that kitty in the box until it goes in the box. Say it's name while you are doing that, so that the cat knows who you are talking to.

Some cat foods contain charcoal and can irritate urinary tract. Ask vet if this is possible cause.

it doesn't always help to get the cat spayed or neutered....

my cat does the same thing and she's been spayed for a long time.

we took her to the vet and they gave her antibiotics, but i'm not sure how well they worked.

maybe the litterbox needs to be cleaned more often.

twice a day maybe-- once in the morning and once at night.

cats are very clean animals, so they don't even want to go to the bathroom in a dirty litterbox.

See a different vet. Hopefully it's just a behavior problem that can simply be solved by spaying or neutering. Or there could be something wrong with their kidneys or urinary tract. Our cat had a similar problem a couple years ago, and had to have his urinary tract treated.

That's humorous - my husband has the identical notion of cleansing as yours. It appears like his puppies have little field. Maybe you must recommend getting him to take a few obedience publications - obedience publications don't seem to be for the puppies - they're for the house owners, to educate them the way to assert their obedience over the puppies. Housebreaking a puppy is tedious however it's nowhere close inconceivable and it appears like those little men had been on no account competently taught wherein "the toilet" is. A blank condominium is VERY foremost with a brand new little one - the whole thing demands to be sanitized and I would not believe your husband's wipe-n-pass coverage as very sanitary lol. Tell him that the puppies have to be housebroken competently or, in your little one's wellbeing, you're going to have got to transfer someplace else. Good good fortune.

How about keeping the litterbox itself clean, or changing the type of litter or litterbag. For some reason, he doesn't like the box. My guess is, it's dirty. I scoop mine 5-6 times a day.

By the way, to the person who suggested to have the cat euthanized...you are INSANE...YOU DO NOT KILL A HEALTHY CAT B/C YOU DON'T LIKE WHERE IT PEES...MORON! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE KILLED WITH A LETHAL INJECTION OR GASSED B/C YOU PEED ON A CARPET???? YOU ARE CRUEL!

If it is a male cat it needs to be fixed and it wont be able to mark his territory in the house! If the cat is constantly peeing in the same spoy maybe it can still smell the odor from recent times if the cat is peeing in plants or craping in plant try moth balls!
