Do red-light cameras catch cars n the MIDDLE of an intersection when the light turns red, or entering it?

The city in which I live is about to install red-light cameras (or have they already? I'm not sure) to catch red-light runners: I wonder if I will get a ticket for being in the MIDDLE of an intersection when it turns red, or do those cameras only catch cars who are ENTERING the intersection when the light turns red?

the instant the light turns red . Any cars under the light or passing over the line; unless its cleared the light.

Well, I can tell you about the red light cameras we have here. The camera takes one picture but sends it in two forms: 1) of your car under the red light; and b) a close up of your car so you see your tag and know it's your car. You have to be under the red light, not yellow. However, no one takes the chance as the yellow light can be short so as soon as it goes yellow...they're going to slam on breaks. Also, it's at a busy interesection where sometimes the traffic into the mall can back up. That teaches people that can't fully cross the intersection to stay behind the "stop" line at their light until they can get fully across. That's because if they go out into the intersection when it's green but they sit in the middle of the intersection stuck in traffic and it turns yellow and then red ... they get a ticket. Wow...I typed a lot about something I care very little about. I think I'll go eat an apple and sit outside for a while.

    Yes Houston too

Well they are supposed to start when the light is red, but in some cities there has been fraud associated with this type of setup. They change the camera speed by a second and drive up revenue considerably and some times the company installing the cameras gets a cut of the ticket money thus creating a breeding ground for conflict of intrests.

Try not to run anymore lights I know that some times it's wet and stopping is not an option. But you shouldn't run them anyways. So get ready to get some tickets.

I live in a city that is about to install red light cameras at intersections. I'm not sure exactly when they catch cars, but I'm hoping it's after the light turns red. If that wasn't the case, me and my brother would have gotten tickets sent home for the past year. XD

He is guilty. Yellow means to start breaking because the red is up next. It is against the law to be in the intersection on a red light. He should just pay for it. Arguing in court would get him nothing except court costs in addition to the fine for running a red.

If you're in the intersection when the light turns red, you'll be nailed. If a cop saw that, he should stop you as well.

The law stipulates that you stop on a yellow light if it is safe to do so. Traffic signals are timed so that if you are driving at the speed limit you will be able to stop safely unless you are right on top of the intersection.

They are set to go off as soon as the light turns red, so if you are in the middle of the intersection and it turns red, you might not get finded.. IT is just on how bad they want to give tickets out.....

i have seen someone turn right on a red night without stopping and the camera went off. actually they went flying through and did a hard right. you should not get a ticket if you are turning and the light changes. if the light is red then you enter, then you will get a ticket. exept if you are turning right, besure to stop, then turn! you should be fine.
