Gay Marriage Hurts You?

I'd like to know specifically how gay marriage has hurt you personally, or how you would anticipate it hurting you. You can present evidence on someone else's behalf (ie, how it hurt someone you know.) I'm trying to understand why people are so opposed to gay marriage, so please be specific about this (for instance, if you wanna talk about "gay agenda," you'd better be real specific about REAL people who were REALLY hurt by the "gay agenda," not just catch phrases.) Let's think for ourselves, shall we.

People are so stupid and so unbelievably attached to what they already believe, that they don't dare look outside and try to accept a new idea. They believe that if you're not like them, you are inferior and "disgusting". They have no real reason for believing these things, but yet they do, because they don't ever stop to think about it. They fear change. They fear accepting different people, yet they want to be accepted. It shouldn't be this way, but unfortunately you can't force people to change their beliefs.

Gay marriage has never, nor will ever hurt anyone personally. Its just that people feel uncomfortable with this idea. But why? Because that's the way they were raised. They were raised by the kind of people I described above. That's what they were brought up to believe and that's what they believe now. Luckily, some have seen that there isn't anything wrong with it, but those people are very few in number.

There isn't anything we can do about this now, but at least we can raise our children to reflect our beliefs, and teach them to be more open-minded. In time, everything will work out.

P.s. Whatever happened to this "free country" of ours?

Source(s): Just like all the "thumbs-down" I've received. Half the people probably didn't even bother to read my whole answer. As soon as they see that we're not both on the same page, they automatically give me a "thumbs-down". I see no reason for someone to discriminate against gay people if they really thought about it.

First of all, homosexuality is such a thing which is totally against the nature of humans. The rule goes that opposites attract and that God the Almighty created man and woman to propagate the human species. For one to be sexually attracted to someone of the same sex is a deviation from this rule.

Homosexuality is not a natural sexual orientation, rather it's a distortion of nature. It's not the way it should be. Their claim that their orientation is natural serves only to propagate and spread immorality, and it is just an excuse for them.

And there is no such term as "Gay Marriage". Marriage is something which is done between a man and a woman. It's not a marriage when it's done between same sex. Same sex people can NEVER have children which is a primary goal of marriage.

If this were a natural practice, people would have practiced it since human origin. But it's rather a new thing.

Moreover, all major religions strictly forbid this act. And most ethics and values are established based on religious morality. So a proper follower of Islam, Christianity or Judaism would never accept it unless his/her mentality is distorted.

I strongly believe that homosexual marriage will never be legalized in USA because it has the most diversed people from different corners of the world, they will continue to vote against it. Muslims and Hindus are increasing rapidly in US, they will always vote against it. Chinese and Japanese and Asians, they will too. Right now 55% of US people said NO to it, only 15% said yes. So, it is a mere chance that it would be a legal act in near future.

some of these answers really don't give specific reasons on how they were hurt by gay marriage, which is not surprising, after all, some people cant help but point and look shamefully upon someone who is different, they don't know any better because their minds have stopped rational, normal thinking and is clouded with intolerance, ignorance and pure hate for anything besides what they are all about.......gay marriage is the last thing that contributes to demoralizing society, that's just scapegoating, everyone wants to blame the gays when crap goes wrong.there are far worse perversions than being gay or gays being married, any person with their own mind usually realizes this.so yeah I'm not surprised that some of these answers are riddled with crap like "its against the bible" or the stupid "its responsible for society's downfall" and then there is"1 man 1 woman equals marriage, that's just as lame as "its adam and eve,not adam and steve, yet no one on how anyone has been hurt.

i,have never been hurt by gay marriage and i don't anticipate ever being hurt by it.

properly, i'm for gays yet i'm writing an essay and performance to state both factors. thanks for asking this question. enable me to practice for the different area. First, we ought to think about human nature. Many evidently and instinctively concern that (or whom) which isn't a similar as them. it quite is why in the course of the approach historic previous many poor issues have got here about - slavery, particular wars, and so on 2d, if gays were allowed to get married they could get particular reward. some believe that through giving those reward to the homosexuals, that heterosexual marriages might want to surely receive the "smaller component to the pie". (for sure unfaithful, yet that is what human beings believe.) third, many moms and dads especially are afraid that if gay marriage were allowed, it might study in faculties. this may finally results of their little ones transforming into gay. even with the indisputable fact that, this argument is invalid because immediately marriage isn't taught in faculties, and legalizing gay marriage would not legalize training gay marriage in faculties. Fourth, typically homophobics believe that if gay marriage is authorized, that the little ones of gay marriages (formed through sperm monetary corporation or followed, and so on) turns into gay themselves and reason even extra gays to come back into this international. that is an unreasonable concern, gay marriage does no longer continually produce extra gay human beings. If we drew the right that gay couples might want to continually have gay little ones, then we may be able to also state that immediately couples continually produce immediately little ones, it quite is fake. to handle the challenge of civil unions: that's unfair and downright ridiculous to easily have a separate marriage. you're categorizing gays in that way. that's like segregating African-human beings into an all African-American college. that's no longer suitable, and for this reason we've abolished that and created public faculties for ALL.

gay marrige does not and would not hurt anyone. if anything it'd help.

above.... >>"There's no such thing as a gay marriage, and such a notion will hurt all of us. 14 out of 15 states have "just said no," and now even California has confirmed "no way." Forget it."<<

and HOW do you say it would hurt anyone? you never did actually answer the question, just spouted rhetoric.

edit: about below... do people really think that gay marrige being legal would make people who wouldn't otherwise be interested... have gay sex? I mean c'mon. if your kid is gay, and interested in participating in such sex, they are going to wether its legal or not... do you really want to encourage them to go against their heart and add one more to the growing total of adulterous, failed marriges, broken familys, and single parents, by forcing them to try to follow something that isn't how they feel? I guess you do. THAT is the threat to marrige, people. Gays being able to get married would mean they no longer have to have un-wed sex to be satisfied, or have a sham of a marrige, and cheat on their spouse with someone of the same gender so they can be satisfied...

I'm straight myself, and theres absolutely no harm in letting gays get married.

edit2: >>"If this were a natural practice, people would have practiced it since human origin. But it's rather a new thing. "<<

you know thats simply nonsense, right? it IS as natural as anything else. and gays have been around since forever. or did you miss the part where lots of samurais, and romans and whatnot were openly gay (or at least bi I'd figure) did you know even some animal species have shown homosexual behavior?

In support of Jona's idea that marriage amongst other things hold up moral values of this society. The legal laws we have today are really bare minimum to allow great freedom of choice. Nothing says you have to go to help people, teach your kids morals etc. yet out society expects us to teach them these things.

So, what are we supposed to teach our kids what marriage is? For some people, that its the union between 2 people that like each other. fine, sounds fair. For some its not enough.. for me personally its the coming of 2 people together and the raising of a child. Well, that can be made up for if homosexuals adopt children. Yet, what if there are no children to adapt. That sounds ridiculous but what are the some of the causes of children getting into adoption agencies? possibly abusive parents which is anotther social moral issue. So, when you ask me about gay marriage and single it out as another issue, I cannot help but connect it to some of the other social issues.

Now you may say, you are entitled to your opinion but let gay people marry if you want to. Well, its my vote so thats what I have to say about it. Call it Gay union but in my definition of marriage, gay union is not marriage. IF we include homosexual marriage, would we have to say incest marriage and marriage between adults and children?

Really, it comes down to the meaning we give to marriage. I cant change what people define as marriage so I can only speak for myself and my vote.

and to the post above; I think you are wrong. You are saying that it is a matter of choice to be homosexual. Even scientifsts couldnt tell you so with certainty. Some say it may partially be genetics. So without bringing God in to the equation, if indeed homosexuality is genetics, then saying that heterosexuality is a definite rule is wrong because homosexuality is also part of nature. And it hasnt surfaced in human history is that they are usually killed by religious fanatics.

Just as a note: i'm athiest and I dont hate gay people. I have gay friends myself. Its just that my idea of marriage does not incorporate them.

actually, im open to discussion to this so email me if you want to invalidate my points; leikevy@yahoo.com

People are just scared of things they don't understand. Instead of trying to be open minded and think outside the box, they would rather hide like cowards. They use fear as a weapon or shield I should say against things even when they have no idea whats going on. It doesn't really hurt anyone, they just say that to make those who choose to live their lives feel bad. But why should someone feel bad for being who they are and being proud of that?? They shouldn't!! So who really cares what those narrow minded fools think?

In spite of all the dire predictions, my marriage didn't become less meaningful or fall to pieces because Suzy and Jane started getting married in MA. Also, as far as I know, the applications for marriage among heterosexuals has not seen a dip either. It's mass hysteria among the Evangelical crowd, and we all know that NEVER happens lol. If my memory serves me correctly, they weren't real crazy about the Loving vs. Virginia ruling either, imagine that. In fact, one of the first ever Gallup polls showed 90% of the US population disapproved of interracial marriage, now it's not even a blip on the screen. Many supported their disapproval by using scripture, just as they do now against gay marriage. You see how far that got them. We'll see same-sex marriage in our lifetimes, and it too will be common in 40 years.

Like many other "problems," it is about money. The insurance and retirement markets are based on male and female couples.

Consider this alternative: Insurance, income tax, social INsecurity, retirement programs,... anything which people commonly do now financially as "husband and wife" be required by law to accept any person the "primary" recipient designates in place of a "spouse" without regard to any relationship or lack thereof...

Would you still be hearing about "gay marriage?"
