Politics in workplace.?

Well, welcome to the world of the workplace. It's a shame but we have all had a supervisor of this sort who finds a reason to feel threatened and begins the process of degradation or even removal.

You could either try to kill the supervisor with kindness and let them know that you aren't after their job (yet, always keep your options open) or you can do a great job and take the high road by not falling into traps to participate in the office gossip.

I say always look at this situation as you would any other in life. First, nothing is forever, this job could just be a stepping stone to bigger and better things for you. Don't get attached as if your skills are not needed elsewhere. Second, do your job well, don't slack off or play hooky. Be a great employee and become the person who provides value added to those higher up. Volunteer for projects and ensure that you are the "can do" person which in turn makes you indispensable. Finally, try not to get caught up in the silliness of office politics by having interests outside of work. Take up golf (very good for upwardly mobile individuals, lots of deals are made on a golf course), racquetball, or other sport that will help release tension.

And, feel good that you are a great example in your profession to the point that a supervisor feels fear that you may be their boss one day. This kind of jealousy will continue to happen until you decide to really wade with the sharks and start a business of your own. Only then will you be challenged with like-minded associates and also make a heck of a lot more money!

You must speak to his immediate supervisor. It would help if you have documentation, and you should be specific about his behavior. If you make accusations without any evidence to back you up, you will come across as a complainer. First and foremost, remember you were employed to do a job. If you bring new fresh ideas on how to promote or grow your company, even if your supervisor is at odds on how to best do that, then he is the one that needs to be addressed by upper management.

Be professional above all else, and remember your success is for the good of the company, not a "personal" issue.

Remember this old. very true saying, there is no I in team, only in winner.

3 main choices

1. Quit and find another job.

2. Stay and play it by the numbers as a professional.

3. Stay and play it dirty.

I would recommend choice 2.

First, talk to your supervisor and let him know how you feel . . . ask him if there is any way you can improve and get along with him and the other people in the office better. Make a sincere effort to be supportive and cooperative. After several months, reevaluate.

You are screwed and have two options as I see it.

1. If you work for a great company, see if you can take a lateral transfer, but be prepared, he may ***** to your new boss too.

2. Start looking for a better job.

Of course, you could always request a meeting with your boss and ask him what you could do to become a better employee, put him on the spot. Which might lead you back to option #2 again.

Go above him....everyone has a boss. The only thing is you have to be diplomatic about it.....the company has seen that you preform well....let it slip just a smig for a few weeks. Go to you bosses boss and be like I feel I'm not productive b/c of this, this and this reason. Say you went to your boss a 6 weeks ago but you feel like he doesn't want to do anything about it.

Blah blah blah....you get the jist. Good Luck...remember to be calm, collective, informative and very professional but sound concern for your productivity and never ever accuse your boss of anything.

do you work for the post office?...leave the ak-47 at home...... as long as you dont mess up and get him gone who cares, desperate times call for desreate measures, if he feels threatened then he will pull out all the stops, just match him move for move and aomeone will eventually cave form the pressure. just make sure you are still standing at the final bell

try to keep your mind cool and don't let that affect you, be a good collegue to everyone and do your job as best as you can, it hasn't happened to me like that exactly because it wasn't a supervisor it was one of my equals but it hurts anyway, he finally got a better job and left. what i did was try to break his hostility towards me acting very gulible and talking friendly to him

Would you say that he is creating a "hostile work environment"?

If so that is against the law and you do have rights.

Just make sure that the lawyer you choose to sue their asses is of YOUR political persuasion! It IS illegal, ya know!
