what kind of excersise is safe when ttc?
i go to ballet tap and hiphop dance classes 3 times a week and have done for years now, however the warm up for one of my classes involves situps and other strenuous abdominal excercises, should i give these a miss or is it ok to continue and just leave that bit out of the warm up when i get pregnant? how far into my pregnancy could i continue my dance classes - i've attended since childhood and they keep me fit, i want to keep going as long as poss with out causing any danger to pregnancy.

Any exercise if fine when ttc. Once you are pregnant it's important not to get very hot during the first trimester, but you should be able to carry on as normal. After the first trimester it's advisable not to do exercise that involves lying flat on your back, but your instructor should be able to advise you on modifications.
My midwife advised me to carry on with my pre-pregnancy exercise, but modify it as the pregnancy went on. At 17 weeks, I am just finding my usual gym routine harder so I need to tone it down a bit. I'm not big yet, but I think the increased blood volume and lower blood pressure is making it harder.
I have heard that doing lots of ab crunches can make labour harder though, so you might want to cut those out once you are into your pregnancy.

Talk to your doctor, but in most cases, I'm pretty sure it's ok to keep going to these classes until your 3rd trimester of pregnancy (too much exercise then could send you into labor); and if it gets too strenuous, just sit out that portion of the class. its actually good to stay active and in shape while you're pregnant. While trying to concieve, exercise is fine, even situps. But again, if you're worried ask your doc.

Exercise not only helps us achieve a target weight and get our bodies in shape but, for couples trying to conceive, regular aerobic exercise oxygenates the blood and increases blood flow to your reproductive organs, bringing them much needed oxygen.
I would cut out the strenuous abdominal exercises as you never know when you are going to fall pregnant and it's best not to take the risk of hurting the baby this early on.
You can still exercise duting pregnancy but softer types such as yoga and swimming and low impact aerobics.
Good luck!

the general advice given when pregnant is as long as you were doing the excersises before you were pregnant, it's safe to continue during your pregnancy. however, sit ups can cause problems due to the way the abdominal muscles lie, and the way the stretch to accommodate they growing foetus. best advice i can give you is to inform your instructors and they should be able to modify your warm up/cool down session. listen to your body, it will tell you when you are doing too much. excersise won't endanger your pregnancy, however in the first trimester you should take it a little more easy.

You can continue to do anything you were already doing because your body is use to it. I am ttc, but I've been putting on weight from the fertility meds, so I want to start exercising again to help keep me from gaining anymore weight. My OB told me I can do any exercising while ttc. When you do get pregnant, then discuss your routine with your OB to see if you need to adjust anything. Exercise is good throughout your pregnancy and helps with delivery, recovery and getting back into shape faster after delivery.

While trying to conceive, you can do as much exercise as you want. While pregnant, you wan to stay away from exercises that will require you to lie down flat on your back and ab exercises. But these excercises are not dangerous if you're only weeks pregnant. So if you happen to be doing them before you learned you're pregnant, you're just fine. Nothing to worry about.

Swimming is the best excersise. It is low-impact and therefore will noy disturb the baby. Make sure your heart rate stays below 90 bpm though as anything higher can be harmful.
