  • renal pelvic dilation?

had my 20 week scan last week was told that there was a slight swelling to the renal pelves they measured 5.2 and 5.6. consultant has explained what could cause it, we are having another scan at 27 weeks to see if the swelling has gone down, did anyone have this turn up on their anomaly scan? what happened, did it go down before the birth or not? if it didnt did it cause any problems for baby after the birth?

i'm not really worried it seems to be quite common, especially among boys which is what we are having. i just wanted to know about other peoples experiences of it.

  • how you felt when you saw the positive test?

i just saw a question asking how you felt when you saw the test was positive, everyone had really strong reactions, mostly happy, some shocked/scared etc.

my husband and i have been trying for ~ 7 months now, each time i got my period was dissapointing and upsetting, on monday i took a test and it came out positive, i've since taken another 2 and the line has got stronger each time. when i first saw the positive, i wasnt really happy or even scared or shocked, i just kinda thought, oh its positive, then carried on with the rest of my day, i'm a bit worried about my reaction, i still dont feel anything, its almost like i havent really understood i'm going to have a baby.

did anyone else feel like this? will i have problems bonding?

    does anyone have any advice?

    thanks.

  • is there any way to change my cycle length?

i came off the pill at the begining of october last year, since then i have only had 4 periods but they have come at regular intervals of 45 - 47 days. i used opks last cycle and did get a positive on day 32, so the long cycles are not caused by a lack of ovulation. i was wondering what could be causing it to be so long, whether it is 'normal', and if it could impact on my fertility?

obviously it is making ttc harder as in the last 6 months i have only had 4 'windows of opportunity'!

is there anything i can do/take to make my cycle shorter?

  • why am i so tired?

lately (since about christmas) i've been feeling so tired, i eat a reasonably healthy diet and excercise for a couple of hours three times a week, which i have done for a couple of years now. i find i get tired mid-afternoon which i think is the post lunch dip, but i also get tired early evening, i can happily 'nap' for an hour or so in the evening and then go to bed for 8 hours at night, even then i cant get up in the morning. i feel very lethergic all the time, like i cant be bothered doing anything, and also feel a bit lightheaded sometimes.

the only things i have changed since christmas is i came off the pill (prev been on for 8 yrs) to try for a baby and started taking prenatal vits. i have tested for pregnancy but got a negative.

could it just be hormonal or could it be something else?

  • how long do i have to wait before i can visit the dr?

i came off the pill at the beginning of october 2006, since then we have been trying to get pregnant, i know this isnt a very long time to be trying but my cycles are very long, i've only had 3 periods since i stopped my pill, cycle is around 45 - 49 days long. i'm going to use ovulation strips this cycle as i heard long cycles can be caused by not ovulating. if i dont ovulate this cycle do i still have to try for a total of 12 months before seeing the doctor or can i go sooner?

  • how long is too long?

i came off the pill at the beggining of october last year, i was a couple of pills into a new pack and had previously been on it for 8 yrs! initially i went on the pill because of irregular periods but was advised the pill may help regulate them. since i stopped taking it i have only had two periods the first was 39 days after i stopped the pill (49 days since the first day of my last pill free week 'period'), the second period arrived after 49 days of my second cycle, i'm now on day 35 of the next cycle, and it looks like it will be a long one too. is a 7 week cycle something i should be concerned about if i am ttc or is it ok? at the moment the worst thing is i seem to get 3 weeks of pms rather than 2!

also, if i have a 49 day cycle, when would i expect ovulation?

  • do i have an increased chance of twins?

my mums half sister (different dads, same mum) had dizygotic twins and my dads mum is a dizygotic twin so twins are in my familiy, however i was wondering if it might increase my chances of having twins.

i know having twins is down to the mother, but must it always run in the maternal line? ie could my chances of having twins be increased because my paternal grandmother is a twin or would it need to be my mum or her mum or her mum etc that is a twin for it to have any effect on me?

also if my mums sister had twins then does that mean that twins might run in my maternal ancestry? i dont know of any twins earlier in this part of my family and i have traced it back several generations. could my aunties twins have been spontaneous? i didnt think this happened so much with dizygotics.

just wondering as we are ttc and would be chuffed to bits with twins!

  • when do i start counting?

i already asked this question i know but didnt really get any helpful answers, i dont know if maybe people didnt understand so i'm going to word it differently!

i'm trying to work out when my period is due, i'm on day 43 of my current cycle, so far, since coming off the pill in october i have had one period which started november 9th. my previous bleed was during my final 'pill free week' on the pill which ran from sept 21st to 27th. after the pill free week i took three pills from a new pack before deciding to try for a baby. what i want to know is should i start counting my (first) cycle from sept 21st, the start of my last pill free week, sept 23rd, first day of bleeding, or october 1st, first day off the pill? or should i ignore the first cycle altogether as i had just come off the pill? people have suggested i should have got my period after 28 days but as mentioned earlier i am on day 43 now still with no period. got a neg test on day 35, will test again on sat (day 45)

  • difficult i know - when's my period due!?

my last pill free week was 21st to 27th of september, then i took three pills from my new pack before deciding to try for a baby, my first day off the pill was oct 1st. my first period arrived on nov 9th, am i correct in thinking this would have been day 40 of my cycle if i had not come on? or should i count from sept 21st, which would have made it day 50 of my cycle? currently up to day 41 of the new cycle and no period yet. my breasts feel ok but my nipples are very sensitive (could be PMT), have felt a bit yuk some mornings but do get that sometimes - i'm not a morning person! gonna wait till the weekend to take a pg test but was just hoping someone may be able to help work out when my period is due. also, if i get a negative test and no period, how long should i wait before speaking to my doc about it?

  • my cats fight what can i do?

i have two cats one male aged ~16 months and one female around 2 - 2 1/2 yrs, they are both rescue cats.

we got the female, amber over a year ago, and she settled in really well, about six months later we decided to get another cat, we were advised to get a male as females will fight over who is the boss of the house, so we got bobby, a former stray, he too has settled in very well. the cats are very different, bobby is very playful and loves to sit on your knee, while amber is a lot quieter and is happy to get comfy on her own chair. the problem is they fight, or rather bobby seems to pick on amber. she's never really got used to him and if he gets too close she sometimes growls, but he chases her a lot which scares her and sometimes scratches her, we have had them both for more than 6 months now, they are better than at the beggining but i would love for them to get on better. is there anything we can do?

we make equal fuss of both of them and they are both neutered.

  • £300 to tile a bathroom is this reasonable?

the room is ~6ft square, the tiles will cover 2 and a half walls and go to a height of ~7ft but they will go round the bath, toilet, sink and a window. is £300 reasonable, it sounded like quite a lot to me.

  • what kind of excersise is safe when ttc?

i go to ballet tap and hiphop dance classes 3 times a week and have done for years now, however the warm up for one of my classes involves situps and other strenuous abdominal excercises, should i give these a miss or is it ok to continue and just leave that bit out of the warm up when i get pregnant? how far into my pregnancy could i continue my dance classes - i've attended since childhood and they keep me fit, i want to keep going as long as poss with out causing any danger to pregnancy.

  • came off pill on october 1st, still not had period - where is it!?

i was only 3 tablets into a new pack when we decided to try for a baby but i stopped taking them straight away, i took the last one on september 30th. since then other than a bit of moodyness (!) and some slight cramping which lasted about 7 - 10 days but seems to have stopped now i have had no other pregnancy or pms symptoms. i have taken 3 hpts last one was last sunday (5th nov) all have come up negative. have been taking pregnacare daily and having regular sex but i was on the pill for 7 yrs non stop before we decided to try for a baby, could i be pregnant and not showing on tests or is it more likely that my periods are messed up a bit after being on the pill for so long?

  • when can i take a test?

i took the 1st pill of my new pack late (does it count as late if its the 1st?) more than 12 hours after i normally do. then took the next 2 on time, then stopped taking them as we decided to try for a baby, have been having sex since, including a week away on our honeymoon ;-) problem is i'm not sure when my period is due, ive been on the pill for 7 years and was initailly put on it by my dr because of extremely irregular periods. the late pill was taken on 28th sept and last pill on oct 1st. been feeling a little odd lately but not sure if its anticipation. my mum got pregnant really easily with me and my sister, is it wishful thinking that it could be hereditary?!

basically i'm wondering when i will know if i'm pregnant - obviously the arrival of a period will tell me i'm not but how long should i wait before taking a test? i dont want to disappoint my self getting all excited about doing a test if i'm doing it too early

  • adobe premier playing up?

having real problems with my adobe premier 6.5 application, firstly it seems to crash far too often, and regularly when part way thru a render or export - extremely frustrating, but the thing thats tipped me over is now i'm trying to export a movie using the MPEG encoder and i keep getting an error message saying its "unable to create a video output", it doesnt give any more info than that. i feel like chucking my pc out the window, i have already exported another file this morning that worked ok, and i have previously exported this file with no problems, made a v small change to a title and now it won't work.

anybody know what might be wrong?
