Have the USA ever won a war without help from a real country?

Update:

Hmmmm

Interesting responses.

The USA didn't really win the civil war either, half of them one and half of them lost.

Oh - thoridium - Many countries have won wars alone. Look at the Brits against Argentina...

Update 2:

kirstina - I think you will find that it was France that tipped the balance on that one.

Update 3:

Oldbeard - The spanis-American war was a home game for you, thousands of miles away from Spain.

Can't you find an example of when the USA went out to fight?

Ok, I'll give you Mexico, but if the Americans have only ever won a war against one country, and that is Mexico, (hehe), are you really proud?

No, not really. Contrary to previous ignorant opinion US didn't win the war of Independence; we, the British, lost it and we lost to the French who were allies of the US at that time. Surprising and perhaps a little embarrassing for us, as that may seem, we did have a mad King at the time.

US main military victories have been won either by superior equipment or by sheer weight of numbers; easy to win if you have sufficient cannon-fodder.

Didn't get much help in the American Civil War, but it really does not matter. Fact is that hardly anyone has won a major war without the help of other countries. The World Wars. Crimean War. Franco-Russian War. Seven Years War. Thirty Years War. Hundred Years War. Napoleonic Wars. I could go on and on. The victors in all these wars relied on the help of allies. So this question does not really mean much. It is obvious just a thinly disguised attack on the United States.

P.S. Come on, fellow Americans. Help me out a little here! France and Prussia helped us win the War of Independence, so that is a lousy example! :-)

Yes, against Mexico in the 1840s and against Spain in 1898

IIRC the USA won the Spanish American War and the Mexican American War without Allies. I seem to recall that they may well consider that they won the War of 1812 against Britain (and Canada).

I don't really understand your question and must just asume that you are an immature no-nothing tilting aimlessly at the USA.

Your riposte above just further shows your ignorance. The Spanish American War not only involved Cuba, but The Phillipines and Guam as well- well away from North America.

You are obviously an odious troll with no sense of history.

    And BTW I am British.

No, nor has any other country. No war has ever been won by a single country. Unless you back to the day of swords and axes.

Can I point out that no Americans fought in the war of independence - up until it ended, they were all technically British colonials...

The U.S. was too busy bailing out Europe to fight their own wars. At least the Brits are paying their debt back unlike some countries...ahem..France.

    Mexico and Spain

dont get on here and say that the us isnt a "real country" first off. We are just as real as any other countries on this globe so . . . to answer your question, their was the civil war and the war of independence.
