Cat problems?

I have an adult male cat that I found outside a few years ago. He keeps biting me though when I pet him, or when I don't pet him. Why is he doing this? It doesn't really hurt, but I don't like it. How can I get him to stop?

ps He doesn't bite anyone else, only me.

If you have an adult male and he's biting and it doesn't hurt than he's not really biting you. Like the other people said this is a form of affection. My 5 month old kitty does the same thing, but when he's playing and he bites, it hurts and he's only like 6 lbs. If your cat was to bite you, he'd draw blood very easily, so if he's not hurting you than he's giving you affection. My cat grooms my facial hair, he bites my chin softly. It's cute... give him a kiss back....

first of all you need to establish whether or not your cat is actually performing a violent act on you, in all likelihood your cat is giving you a nibble which is a form of affection, you would commonly see this wen they groom them self. there for by nibbling you he is actually grooming you and showing you a form of affection!

maybe your hands smell good to him.

My cat dose the same thing!

You should never yell at a animal because

they could begin to dislike you!

maybe he is not secure enough yet to let u pet him. u need to gain his trust. i suggest u leave him alone for now and wen he is ready im sure he will com up to u and let u pet him.

flick him with water when he does it and firmly say "no." then give him a treat when hes with you and not doing it.
