Ok can anyone show me where in the US Constitution it says that as citizens we have a right to healthcare?
As a citizen that takes steps to take care of myself and not overspend, overtax and over...... Why is it my responsiblity to take care of those that fail to plan ahead and live within their means?

Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you have a right to healthcare.
And HokiePaul, you need to continue reading the Constitution past the 9th Amendment and read the 10th Amendment, which prohibits the Federal Government from creating Universal Healthcare and every other social program it has created for the past 70 years. And just to give you an example of how fallible your argument that, 'it IS within Congress's right to pass legislation and for the President to sign or veto it,' is. Can Congress pass legislation to create a national religion or place limits on freedom of speech? No because the 1st Amendment prohibits this. Just as the 10th Amendment prohibits Congress from creating Socialized Medicine.
However, as someone has already pointed out the Federal Government interprets and reinterprets the interstate commence clause of the Constriction whenever it needs to justify expanding its power in breach of the 10th Amendment.

I am against socialized medicine in any shape or form. I saw it first hand in Canada, and I was not impressed. The quality and service of Healthcare is ten times better in the US than Canada. However, I absolutely support any state's right to create such a program that is the whole point of States' Rights. If a given state wants to create a socialized medicine plan it is free to do so, but this is not the realm of the Federal Government. If a state decides to create too many social programs, driving up the tax rate, a person is free to move to another state. If enough people move, the state will lose its tax base and quickly repeal such legislation. If the federal government creates a program you, as an individual, have no recourse other than leaving the country, which is really not an option. Moreover, it is easier for the people of a single, given state to mobilized and voice opposition to legislation than it is to organize all the people of all the states to combat initiatives passed by the Federal Government. This is the whole reason the Founding Fathers did not want the Federal Government involved in the day to day lives of the people. The more power the Federal Government has the more tyrannical it behaves.
Furthermore, in a state like California, which has strong ballot measures in the form of propositions, the citizens of such a state can rally without support of the governor or legislature to limit the power of government. Much like Californians did when they passed Proposition 13, which prohibits, for the most part, county governments from increasing property taxes beyond the value assessed against the original purchase price of houses.
If Californians do not want Governor Schwarzenegger's Socialized Medicine proposal, they can pass a ballot initiative barring him from implementing such legislation.

It does not say this in the Constitution... but I ask you this: would you rather pay for universal healthcare for your fellow citizens of the United States or continue to pay for universal healthcare for every citizen in Iraq? (Last time I checked, the Constitution of the United States of America also does not suggest that Iraqi's have a right to universal healthcare provided with US funds.) Whether you like it or not, you are already paying for it... the difference is that you are currently receiving zero benefit from your expense because your hard earned dollars are going to some Iraqi citizen. I encourage you to broaden your views on the policies of this country. If you are going to be greedy about your tax dollars, then be greedy all the way around.

We have a right to expand protection (like the Patriot Act)
Health Care in America is out of hand. Even Socialist Countries like Sweden Germany and Denmark pay less per capata than we do. And it is a disgrace to not care for those in need.
Medical Emergency is the number one cause of American poverty and Bankruptcy. All it takes is a heart attack and any family in America can be broke overnight.

I don't support universal healthcare, but it IS within Congresses right to pass legislation. If they pass legislation enacting this and it is signed by the president (or Congress overrides a veto) then it becomes law and does so in accordance with the Constitution.
On a side note though, just because it doesn't say their is a right in the Constitution, doesn't mean you are prohibited from being granted other rights. Read the 9th Ammendment in the Bill of Rights.

Here is the text of the 10th amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
So does that mean you would support a state-sponsored program for healthcare like the ones being proposed in California and Massachusetts?

It's not your right as a citizen, but as an illegal allien...uh excuse me, undocumented worker. You pay, I pay, they don't. Just wait until Hillary or Obama Bin Ladin are in office. It's all FREE after that. You think it's expensive now, wait until it's FREE. I heard that "other" NY Senator on the Today show this morning talking about how the Democratic party is going to bring back the "middle class" and how the "middle class needs government". I consider myself middle class and the only thing I need is for him and his other Socialist comrads to stay the heck out of my paycheck. Government is a failure. The more of you have the faster they fail.

Are you doing ANYTHING about this issue other than whine and moan about it in an online forum that politicians don't even care about?

That's real useful there bub. When you're old and in a nursing home, I'm sure you'll look back at this day ad think "Man, I'm glad I ranted on the Internet about the politics I didn't like instead of DOING something to change things."

because it has nothing to do with you. I didnt fail to take care, i was born into a family that was both poor and had health issues, and so is my daughter, we never had the chances you had, but that doesnt mean we should be treated as less important, or recieve less treatment for illnesses than you. And its every americans responsibility to ensure the safety and survival of every other american, even if it means you have to buy the caddilac instead of the porsche so a few hundred impoverished children can get needed medical attention in order to live........ think about that the next time your angry because you wanted lobster instead of steak.

What if there were no American Red Cross, or The Salvation Army, or the Peace Corp, or Habitat for Humanity, or the American Cancer Society, or CARE, or a thousand other generous, selfless organizations and people? Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if everyone shared your selfish viewpoint?

I agree with the person above me. Republicans support people's right to life, but then do not want to take care of people who are less fortunate. Uh...for the 100th time. POOR PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE HEALTH CARE!! IT IS CALLED MEDICAID!!
The current system costs taxpayers 15 billion dollars per year for the uninsured.
