Why does non alcoholic beer contain alcohol?

If you don't believe me look on the beer bottle..."Contains less than .05% alcohol"

Because it starts as regular beer (with alcohol). You can't make beer that tastes like beer without fermentation by yeast. However, one of the inescapable by-products of that fermentation is alcohol.

What they do is to take the alcoholic beer and subject it to a vacuum. This lowers the boiling point of the alcohol to near room temperature. Then, just by gently heating the beer, they can effectively distill the alcohol out of it without ruining the flavors that would otherwise be destroyed by the heat required to boil it at regular pressure. This takes both time and energy to keep the vacuum in place, so eventually, the amount of alcohol that can be extracted reduces to virtually nothing (the <0.05% on the label) and then becomes a waste of time and effort to try to exceed.

That amount of alcohol is negligible in terms of its effect...think about it...it would take over 20 to equal the same amount of alcohol as a drink containing 1%, and over 100 to equal a normal alcoholic beer...bloody unlikely even for the twits who claim they can down 100 in a day.

Basically what hte person above me said.

Beer is made and its alcoholic. THen they take out the alcohol, but they can't economically make it 0%. But whatever the law is.....05% can be classified non alcoholic.

The Koran does not prohibit the drinking of alcoholic beverages, the Koran prohibits the drinking of malt beverages, so even if non-alcoholic beer contained no alcohol it would still be off limits.

It is like that decaffeinated coffee they can't wash out all the caffeine from that either. But there is not enough to affect us.
