Reporting Abuse on Yahoo Answers...do you snitch?

You have just posted your sincere, well thought out answer in the hopes of helping the one in need. You read the other answers, and there you see some flakey answer like, "ok", or "You're too ugly to get a boyfriend", etc. Now...do you push the little flag to report the abuse? Is it points gaming? Other? Your thoughts.

When I started here, I very rarely reported abuse, but I have found myself doing it a lot more often.

I simply will not put up with hateful slurs and racist attitudes in this world, I can't stop it everywhere but I sure can and do report it when I see it here. There are children on this site and they are impressionable and I will not stand by and let them "learn" this.

I report Spam when I see it, Spam can DESTROY web sites and I do not want to see that happen here.

And to answer your question, yes I do report such things as "insulting other participants" or "not a question or answer".

Sorry if that bothers people, but Yahoo does NOT have to let us do this, all they ask is that we abide by some community guidelines that are not rocket science. I see no reason why someone who needs to build some self-confidence needs to be subjected to insults, or worse someone contemplating suicide is told "Just go ahead and kill yourself". Point Gaming? It is the person who will not answer the question that is "point gaming", not I for reporting them.

I don't view it as points gaming. I only report egregious problems like violent hatred, and adult content avatars (there ARE young people here, after all) and SPAM/Adverts that we ALL despise. Just trying to keep the site a bit clean -- no more than that.

I never flag someone for that - ever. That defeats the whole purpose of this site, IMO (in my opinion).

I have, on rare occasion given a thumbs down to rude or racist remarks, but it has to be pretty bad for me to do that.

i think of that the record abuse button is a lot too usually abused itself. i think of it is going to under no circumstances be used for something different than the main vile offenses....Like whilst i become answering a query, and yet another woman individual wrote no longer something however the 5 letter be conscious that starts with W and ends with E and has the letter R in the middle. She wrote this be conscious, commencing on the left of the column all a thank you to the dazzling, and repeated it many times for what had to be a minimum of 12 inches down. This I evaluate a reportable offense. distinctive factors of view at the instant are not reportable offenses. Getting human beings's money owed suspended, in basic terms in view which you do in contrast to them, or what they could say, is a mentally disturbed and ignorant element to do. Exceptions might properly be made whilst, yet another guy or woman continuously objectives you for attack, falsely accuses you of issues that they themselves are extremely accountable of, sends threatening emails, clones you, comments you, gets you and others suspended in easy terms for the sake of having human beings suspended, stalks you, trolls you, etc! under such situations, then i think of that it can be quite properly to combat fireplace with fireplace! in any different case, anybody might do properly to in easy terms stay and enable stay, and in case you do in contrast to what yet another guy or woman is approximately, then in basic terms stay out of their way! maximum human beings won't attack others until eventually they are attacked continuously first. it incredibly is generally in easy terms trolls that attack and harass first! *sm*

Not for flaky answers, only for those that are rude, inflammatory racially or sexually abusive or just plain offensive.

However, I would yank the "you're too ugly" one, for being offensive and insulting

I usually only flag it if it's obscene, rude, and/or offensive. If people just want the points, there's ways to do that without being obnoxious.

I rarely report. I just answer the question and move on.

Yeah all the time. Young people dont desire to see explicit behavior online

Why bother...I leave it up to the asker to report the trolls.

I leave that up to the person asking the question.
