How did the Republican party get taken over by the religious right and economic socialists?

I mean that under the "patriot act" we have lost more personal constitutional freedoms than at any time in the history of the US, We now have a bigger government than ever and we have less spending money than ever. We have a president who thinks evolution is not proven and has a secret war plan that he hasn't shared with his own congress as of yet! The worst part is that they lost an election to a party with no issues except complaints and no solutions. How did we come to this sad state? the Republicans were the party of Abe Lincoln, Now they are the party of Bush/Cheney and rice-a-rooni.

Before you start with the anti-liberal BS, I am not a Democrat and I am quite conservative. I am a Libertarian and I think that both parties are out of their minds and out if control

Update:

Josh, You are absolutely right, But it is one of my pet peeves and it is my question so there!

Update 2:

pimpslapleftys; you bring up agood point, I have slammed both parties. Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to get out there and only vote for people who support the fair tax plan, want to revise congressional spending on welfare as well as revise campaign spending. Vote for people who stand for freedom instead of government control. People who don't just talk about reducing governmental size, but actually have tried to put in a plan to prevent it. People who don't say that cutting spending (which refers to percentages) is the same as reducing government. Plain talk not political mumbo-jumbo! A person with a real stance rather than a plan to get re-elected!

yes both parties are out of their minds and going to the same end result with their own agenda.

    Bush for Globalization

    Democrats for socialized programs

Everybody complains that we need Canadians health care

but the liberal media does NOT tell you all the horrible stories of

Canadians dying before they can be seen by a doctor

and that the richer Canadians simply come to America when they need major health care.

I think the Religious right just went to the Republican side because the liberals took over the Democratic party

Actually the Republican party has not been taken over by the religious right, it was the Republicans who hood-winked the religious rights into giving a lot of money to the Republican party. How do you think the Republicans were able to buy the presidency for George W. Bush who is so much less intelligent than Jeb Bush.

Do you why absolute freedom will cause us harm? Human is evil; when they are free, no one know what they will do. I suppose some kinds of limit must be applied so that order will be established. In US, when a secret plans go to congress, it become known worldwide - you must experience this before! Yet, we know how to complain, most of us doesn't know the solution that is why people tries to ignore some facts to decide their solution! Therefore, when you support one party, you must ask them the solution including all consequences! If you ever lived in a socialist society as me, you will now the huge differences between US society and socialist's!

How in the world did you put the Patriot Act with the "religious right" or socialism? The patriot act concerns powers given to the Fed in how they handle known terrorists, the religious right is a religious movement, and socialism is an economic philosophy. Where is the connection?

To your question, the religious side must always come in to fan the fanatics into "giving" money, life or rights. In the name of God, typical from history past is the rhetoric to fan the flame. Germany and Japan world war II very rich in religious involvement.

I'm not a liberal either, but It is insulting that this administration thinks that they don't have to answer to the people. After all, they do work for us. These guys are just trying to get paid. Part of being an American is being able to ask why.
