More affection for animals than humans?
Is it possible that a person can get more attached to, in this case cats, than humans? The love of an animal exceeds the love of any human being.
If this is possible, why?

Yes; it happens all the time, especially among people with limited social exposure; who are agoraphobic; who have less developed social skills; who are natural 'loners;' who, from experience, have derived their greatest creature-to-creature pleasure and comfort from animals. It isn't BAD... its just the way some people are. Such people often have very very gentle souls and very very tender hearts that hurt easily by the insensitivity or harshness of other people.

It does happen, possibly because the person has had some bad experiences with relationships with other people - either from the failings of other humans or their own personal failings.
I love my animals deeply - very deeply - but I realize that they cannot take the place of good relationships with other humans. It is a different kind of relationship and both have an important and special place in my life. I think for me it is important to have both to be healthy and happy.

Absolutely. I have a crippled cockatoo that is just like Velcro..... (I love every minute of it!) and I carry him around alot with one arm just like you would a baby . He loves it. I take him everywhere with me... shopping, feeding ducks and everywhere else you can imagine! He will 'holler' at certain people that he WANTS to meet! (he has a very eclectic taste in people, for sure and little kids are his favorite) so it can get kinda exciting around us sometimes! Anyway,he gives the best loving hugs that you could ever ask for! he snuggles in to my neck and his beak heats up and he will grab my shirt and wont let go if I try to pull him away! He loves hugging, and yes you can hug a bird. I would bet my soul on the fact that animals do indeed understand human affection. It's funny how they seem to teach us the most loving way to show it though, huh?

I'm sure it's possible. Although, I would hope that they would realize that humans are a bit more important than animals.
There's nothing wrong with caring about animals. It's very honorable to protect them and love them. We just need to keep it in context.
I think the reason why it can happen is that people can be jerks. They can be mean, cruel, violent, selfish, you name it. Animals usually give us almost unconditional love.
People should pay more attention to animals in that regard.

i think it is possible. if you don't have kids, then an animal is a good substitute. a pet is like your little baby, and you have full responsibility of taking care of it. its life depends on you, so it is natural to love it and take care of it as you would a kid.
also, i usually get a lot sadder when an animal dies in a book or movie than when a human does. this is probably because animals are innocent and people usually arent

well cats or dogs that are pets become part of some people's family and they become quite attached to them in the form of love for them as they would a human

yes because with people there is always the threat that they will leave you. Animals don't leave, they don't judge you, and they always love you as long as you take care of them the best you can. they make no real big demands and they don't punish you the way that people can be so cruel. they give back way more than you give them really and they don't hold it against you.

Yeah, probably because us (humans) can be cruel sometimes, not all of us, but some, can and are cruel.

our pets offer us unconditional love and acceptance without judgement... hard to find in humans!
