Rolled Ankle - 2 days to go - Big Rugby Debut?

My son rolled his ankle 5 days ago, straining the first tendon and irritating the next two. I'd call it a mild rolled ankle.

He is an 18 year old winger and fullback relying on speed [ 11 seconds 100metres ] and good footwork [ step ] . This is first grade Premiership equivalent under 21's Colts team [ in Australia ] and it is his big game to get recognition for first grade in a couple of years.

He saw the physio who suggested just before this first big game he might be OK, and he did light training with no rugby step exercises on day 3 and 4. On both evenings after training he has iced and removed the bandage before sleeping.

Is he going to make enough of a recovery before day 6, the day of the game? What are the steps he can before entering the field to give him the best chance of using his full key abilities.

I'm no expert but I'll give it a shot, well I twisted my ankle and got it swollen really bad...people were staring at it, but it's not as bad as your son's injury. My injury healed in a week though.

Anyway I got it bandaged but the best thing to do was to put weight on it as many times as you can by walking on it, as well as doing some ankle excercises like rotating it one way then rotating it the other.

Your son has time against him so it will be tough to get him fully ready. But all I can say is put weight on it and do some ankle excercises. If this was useless information, then sorry, I tried my best.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

When I was about 16, I sprained my ankle quite badly and was advised to use crutches and stay off it for a fortnight.

The following day I walked at least 8 kilometres on it without the crutches and continued to breathe through the pain and place weight on my foot.

It was completely healed within a week.

If I had stayed off it, I think it would have taken weeks.
