We live in a Republic NOT a pure democracy. If we lived in a pure democracy then the majority figures quoted by the questioner would be the law of the land.

The roll of the government is to make there country, viable, sustainable. And promote an environment of job creation (Capitalistic societies). "You can't always get what you want" (Mick Jagger).

That is a democracy, that is why the USA was set up as Republic, and the founding fathers hated the idea of Democracy, they said it was the worst form of government there was.

WE THE PEOPLE!!! Our government is supposed to be of, by, and for We the People! But with Corporate interest being intermingled with government interests, we are only a few steps away from fascism. We got to TAKE THE POWER BACK!!!

Yes. I think that's a pretty good summation. But the reality is that we don't have enough lobbyists paying off our senators and congressmen.

if we used your theory, blacks wouldn't be able to vote and might still be slaves, women wouldn't have rights, etc.
