Fleas!!!! How rid of them from my house and Kittens?

My kittens are 6 weeks old and the Mommy and Daddy Cats are a year. I want something that is safe but effective, for both them and my home. Do you have any suggestions?

Call your vet. They have great stuff for that.

I would start with bathing the cats with a flea shampoo (not necessary, but it's what I did when my cat had fleas), then use Advantage once the cats are dry. I've tried a few different flea treatments and found Advantage to be the most effective.

For treating your home- Vacuum the carpet, then sprinkle some 20 Mule Team Borax (available in the laundry aisle at most grocery stores) wherever the carpet is exposed. Borax is safe for pets and kills fleas very fast (as well as preventing them from coming back, I treat my home with Borax to be safe every three to six months or so) My cat had fleas that I wasn't able to get rid of until I tried the Borax, one week later they were gone!

Go to a vet office and ask for Advantage!! I had this problem several years ago and it killed all fleas in my home and on pets w/in 48 hours. I also know that it is safe to put on kittens when they are just a few weeks old... we adopted a stray kitten last summer that was only 4 weeks old and the vet said the advantage was safe to put on it... again, fleas gone w/in 48 hours. It's excellent, excellent stuff. I have use it on my pets every month and I have NO flea problems!

Go to the vet and get the drops that are safe for kittens and some for the adults.

    Put them on the cats.

Fleas should be gone from your house in about 3 days.

    It's amazing!

get something from your vets do not buy pet shop meds they can be very dangerous

i use frontline on mine but advantage is excellent too

you must treat all on the same day and spray the house i use indorex but ask your vets if you do them all over a period of time they will re-infest each other

if your cats have been seen in the last six months the vets should be able to give you something without seeing them

frontline spray is safe and can be used from 2 days old on kittens

I would suggest talking calling a vet regarding this problem, using anything designed to kill fleas can be extremely harmful to kittens so young, and flea treatments for kittens themselves arent necessarily encouraged until 8 weeks

Frontline Spot-On for Cats. And Frontline Spray for kittens.

As for the fleas in your house...call up an exterminator. They'll have fogs that will clear up the fleas in your house. Just make sure your cats aren't there when they're fogging the place. And give it a few hours before you get your cats back in your house.

frontline or advantage. A lil expensive but you can find discount coupons or go to a low cost dog & cat spay/neuter clinic. I got frontline for $14 at mine. Then, get a good flea comb and wipe the comb on a white paper towel. If you see little black things its flea poop. Look around eyes and ears to check if they are still there. Everytime they lick themselves they pick up flea eggs and they can get larvae growing in thier tummy and lil white worms will come out thier butt. Also dont let your cats outside.

take the kittens outside. give them flea baths, bring them somewhere flea-free. move. take kittens to new house. never worry about the fleas again.
