I am a new nanny to 4 boys! I need advice!?
Ok, here is the deal. I started nannying 4 boys 2-9yo about 3 weeks ago. The two older go to school, and the 4 and 2 yo stay home with me. Here is the deal, they left the honeymoon era and are into the hellraising era. The 4 yo will not clean his room as asked and continues to throw temper tantrums not doing what he is asked to. I have taken all privilages away including is pet fish! I don't know what else to do! Any advice?

He's testing you. Stick to your guns and make him realize that you are in charge. You might also try a reward system. When he cleans his room he'll get something special. If he does what you tell him without throwing a tantrum then he'll get something else he wants. He's probably also trying to get your attention. Spend special time with him, reading a book, coloring a picture, etc. Or make that part of the reward. Tell him after he picks up his toys you'll read him his favorite book.

a 4 year old is never going to clean his room voluntarily. I have 4 boys. I still have trouble with them. What you need to do is don't tell him, ask him. Make it a chore that he will be rewarded for. I would tell my children"I bet I can pick up more toys than you" and they would see it as a game, not a chore. children figure"well, she already took everything away, why should I listen?" Let him win at the "game" and reward him with one of the things you took away. I guarantee that this will work!
