It's subtitled and rightfully so. If you pass on a film because you don't want to read the subtitles, then you're missing out on a world of great, great films.

Pan's Labyrinth is a great film, and I can only hope you don't let the subtitles become an issue.

I'm wondering about that myself. They are advertising it on the TV, and we want to get the '2 disk platinum' edition ... my husband just loves 'other stuff' when we get a DVD ... but I've seen several people asking about Pan's Labyrinth being in Spanish ONLY ... and I really can't remember if it was 'dubbed' in English or had 'witten subtitles' ... which the DVD may NOT HAVE ... but if you have seen it in Spanish with English subtitles, then why don't you go ahead and rent it and just 'read them' ... because I'm buying it as soon as it comes out (on Friday at the latest, I hope) ... whether it is in English or in Spanish with subtitles or not ... and THAT should tell you what a 'good movie' it was ... because we've seen it in the theater already.

I don't like the best answer because what about people who don't read as fast as you do? I saw the movie but I wanted to rewatch it with my boyfriend and he doesn't read as fast, so that's why an English dubbed version of the movie would be useful. People simply aren't "passing on a film", they maybe want to concentrate more on the film itself than the words at the bottom of the screen. I haven't found an English version of the movie yet though so we'll just have to wait.

i just literally popped it in right now. and to my surprise it is in spanish. although im mexican so its not biggie and the subtitles are there which im very used to because i watch alot of japanese movies and anime and some spanish movies(by the way motorcyle diaries is a great movie, spanish with english subtitles)

so it doesnt bother me but from what i hear this isnt a movie you want to miss out. besides if they made an english version it wouldnt be as good when they do voice overs.

honestly. i think the subtitles are negotiable even for a not-fast reader. so much of this film is evident in the performance, the body language. and even snippets of the subtitled text would probably carry you through. it is a really great, beautiful film and worth trying. it has the epic feel of very great, timeless, pan-global fairy tales, while like them being very, very personal.

I hate to have to read subtitles, in doing so I miss the visual that is more than half of a film

In the theaters it was in spanish with english subtitles, but sometimes they will dub movies for DVD/Video release.

According to the product listing on barnesandnoble.com, the DVD will be subtitled.
