Pierced at the tatto parlor or the mall?

I got my ears pierced a couple years ago at the mall at the ripe old age of 27. I struggled with infections and finally, when one of my holes widened because of one, I decided to let them heal/close up and try again. It has been nearly 2 years and I am ready to try again. Should I go to the mall or a tattoo parlor. I have heard the guns/people they use at the mall can be unsterile/undertrained. But tattoo parlors scare me a little. I have a problem with needles and I think piercing my flesh while staring at strange pics and listening to heavy metal might make me a little nervous. OK, give me your best horror stories.

Well..I have had 5 tatts and 7 body piercings, aside from my ears. Everytime I went to the mall and got my ears done, I ALWAYS had an infection. Every body piercing I have ever had has been primo..tip top. Those are regulated by the state for sanitary reasons, and they usually autoclave them a couple of times beforehand, sanitize them again, and then thouroughly clean your area of choice.

If you have fears.. go by the tatoo parlor, ask about there sanitation procedures..most are happy to put your mind at ease.

    Best wishes!

The only problem I've ever had with ear piercing and the gun is when I got my cartilidge pierced. BIG mistake as it got really infected and developed a keyloid... It always bled and after 6 months I couldn't take it anymore and removed the earring which i couldn't even change. I wish I had gone to a piercing parlor. BTW - not all piercing parlors do tattoos, and they all don't blare heavy metal. Shop around your area and see where people have had good experiences. If it's clean and you get a good vibe, go for it.
