Inexpensive car recommendations please?

Hi. I'm looking to lease a 2007 car - simply for commuting and putting around town. I'm looking at the Yaris, Aveo, and Accent. Anyone have any recommendations or advice for me?

If this is your first car, and it's going to be about US$3000, in many states you can just get liability insurance which would alllow for you and other passengers to be insured and would insure other drivers and their car, but if yours receives unrepairable damage, then your car would be a loss. This can save you money on most cars. Most American cars are really OK, don't let everyone coerce you into buying foreign unnecessarily. Saturn SL sedans are cheap to repair and good on gas, reliability is good if you get a well-cared for car. Ditto for late 1990s/early 2000s Ford Escorts. Many Japanese sedans are inexpensive too, especially if you stay away from anything that can be tuned to the max. These cars are sometimes the favorite of car thieves -- even older Accords, Civics, and the like. Nissan Sentras and the earlier, smaller Altimas are decent. Jettas are decent cars, get the Passat if your parents tfeel that a Jetta doesn't seem safe enough due to its size. Golfs are OK too. Happy shopping...

  • If you're looking for inexpensive, why not buy a good used car instead of leasing one? The Chevy Cavalier or Ford Focus, etc...are pretty good choices, but if you are insistant on having a 2007, I would go for something that sounds more like an actual car....where do they get these names from?lol!

Mazda 3 - I own one and I really like it. great vehicle for the price. You can get a used one on a good price.

Mazda 6 - they are good quality I hear. You can buy them at a good price also...

Mazda does not have too bad a reliability rating... so they are good cars. Other options are Honda Civic, or Nissan Versa, but you will pay more for thse than a Mazda...

Yes, what does Nissan offer?.....We got a better rate at Nissan than Toyota becauce while at Toyota, they told us, "they are the best, so expect to pay more for us." lol

We left, we were followed out the door trying to get us back, but who cares, if they are "the best" our business isn't going to change anything.....

We went to Nissan, (next door in our city) and found a better deal for a better car.

Look around and don't be subject to the dealer's little schemes. They want to sell a car to whoever they see, don't be misinformed......we looked into the same car in Florida, they sold it for two thousand less than California did, when asked about this, they told us they would get back to us (the Toyota dealership in Calif.)

Two weeks later they said they had a car ready for us, at the Florida price.......too late, we allready went Nissan and got a better car at a better price (34 mpg, btw, the same as their corolla, but we got a LOT of extras for the same price....)

Shop around and don't be afraid to tell the salesman no, it is not a bad thing.
