Size of a 6 yr old?

My 6yr old son is 4'5" tall and weighs 78lbs. (not an ounce of fat) and people tell us all the time ther is no way he is 6. What is the average size of a 6yr old?

He must have a tall daddy! He's fine though, sounds healthy, just big for his age. Here's a website with the growth charts you see at the doctor, so you can see for yourself what "average" is. :)

I don't think there is an average per se. Each child is different due to their heritage. My daughter is 9, weighs 61 lbs. and is onlt 4ft tall. She takes after her Paternal Grama. She is petite. Don't worry, your son is gonna be tall.

My six year old is also 4'5, but only weighs 67 lbs. He's not fat either, but as solid as they come.

thats big! My son is 5 and 4'1" and 59lbs, and he's bigger than most 7 yr olds. You son is as big as an 8 yr old at least. He's gonna be a football star!

he is half a foot taller than my 7 year old daughter. he is fine! he may have tall genes and will grow proportionately .tel lthe doubters that he just grew fast! if the doctor says there could be a problem , listen to them, as for strangers, tell them to pi$$ off!

I think that all children grow at different rates. To want your child to fit in and be average is a condemnation to mediocrity. Just embrace his differences and let him know there is nothing wrong with the way he is. Just my take on that.

yes but not by much if your family is tall than it is normal my brother is the tallest in my family at 6'4" and he is 16 so as long as he is healthy I would just give them a sly comment I feed him well or I do good work LOL
