My cat has a Teary eye, what can I do to help give some relief?

He has teary eyes on only one eye, no puss, no redness on the eye itself but the outer eye area looks a little pink, he is able to eat and go poopie regularly. And he will allow me to wipe his eye with a damp cotton to clean off some of the tears

I am unable to bring him to the vet yet for another 2 days, in the meantime I hope i can do something to help him as I was told cats usually don't make noises when they are in pain unless its severe...

I hope someone can give some temp tips... Thanks a million for your help

Very Worried

When my cat had an eye problem I called the vet and they told me what to do over the phone. I can't guarantee that your cat has the same problem as my cat. My cat has stuff coming out of her eye which sometimes made her eye stick shut. I would describe it as a form of Conjunctivitus. First you need to disolve some salt in warm water. Next get some clean cotton wool and dip it in the solution and wipe your cats eye with it. I always used new cotton wool and I didn't dip the used cotton wool in the container again to stop the germs going everywhere. I did this about three times a day. It helped my cat the first time but she got it again a few months later. I tried the same method but it didn't work the second time so she went to the vet and was given eye drops. When she went to the vet the vet put drops in her eye to numb the pain and then had a good look all through her eye. The vet said that cats that go outside sometimes can get things caught in their eye and if left in there could damage their vision over time. Hope this helps you cat.

Warm compresses on the eye in question, about 10 minutes every 4 hours..if this does not help take it to the vet

it will be a conjunctivitis, it would also be allergies. And certain, presently turning on the furnace might want to be an problem. (stirs up a good number of airborne dirt and dust and mites) you would call the vet and run it with the help of them, mostlikely they're going to allow you to recognize if its no longer a yellow/eco-friendly discharge its no longer an infection. Are they bothered with the help of the crusties? Do they rub the faces? unhappy in any respect? i might want to easily call and talk with someone.
