What vacuum cleaner would you recomend?

I own a Miele Callisto S5280 Vacuum Cleaner. It is the best vacuum I have ever owned. The filtration is incredbile it is 99.995% effective at .3 microns (really small) and is approved for people with allergies and asthma. It uses a HEPA filter with charcoal on the bottom to take out the odors and the bags are called intensive clean bags and are cloth like! As for fexibility, the powerhead (which works great on my carpets!) has a double swivel neck to get under and around everything. The floorbrush is incredible as well. It twists and turns to get into corners, is low enough to get under furniture and baseboards and feels like you are pushing nothing. The machine itself is very lightweight and is a canister. It, like all other Miele products, is made to last 20 to 25 years. It has a 7 year motor warranty! I got this vacuum from Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew for only $699 (Phone Special You have to Call to Get that Price) ($799 everywhere on the internet) and that handled everything professionally. The man on the phone was nice and it came with free fast shipping and no tax because I am out of state (They are in NY). I am estatic over my purchase and will definately buy from them again. Although if you really wanted a Dyson, my friend got a slim DC-18 from 1stchoicevacandsew.com for only 397.99. she swears by it but I still think the Miele is better

Uprights (at the equivalent product level) will always remove more dust and grit than a normal vacuum cleaner, because they beat or vibrate the carpet as they vacuum. Choice magazine tests prove this every time. They are just less convenient. My sister has a Dyson and loves it, but it wont beat an upright on carpet at the same quality level. My concern is that the catching container would get dirty and damaged. And they are way too expensive. All the top of the range ones are good, like Dyson, Electrolux, Milele, AEG, Nilfisk, the big difference is in the noise levels. Check the noise level before you buy.

I have had a Dyson for several years. When I was trying to decide which cleaner I wanted to replace my old one I did a little test. At that time I had a long haired shaggy dog and her hair was EVERYWHERE.! Before I went shopping for the cleaner I vacuumed an area of the carpet about 3 yards square- so it should've been clean, right?

When I came back witthe Dyson (Zorbster) I cleaned the exact same area and there was LOADS of dust and dog hairs in there. I also like it for the stairs cos the tube reaches all the way to the top without having to try and balance the whole thing on the stairs!

Not cheap though!

I have a Dyson DC07 All Floors. I love it! The hose reaches to the top of the stairs with no hassle, the power is excellent, I don't need to go over parts to pick all thew dirt up. You can switch off the bristle bar if you want to hoover a rug or lino floor. When the hoover is in the upright position, the bristle bar automatically stops so you can use the hose and not worry about the carpet getting damaged, or little fingers trying to grab it! The cylinder is easier to empty on this model as it has a flap that opens via a switch and the dust just falls out, so you don't need to shake it out etc. Dyson also have a 5 year guarantee, which is spot on. I broke a clip trying to remove a blockage, and they sent me out a replacement under the guarantee!

I used to have a dyson upright but was never really that impressed.The best vacuum cleaner I ever had was a HENRY hoover.My friend who runs a cleaning company says they are the best on the market and are used by industrial cleaning companies as they are so effective. So after my Dyson broke down I bought another one-you even get stick on eyes and mouth to put on it so it adds a bit of character!

My Dyson has been super.Very good cleaning power. The only drawback is they are not nearly as rugged as the old Hoovers and will not give the same number of year's service.Using the tools is a bit fiddly.My opinion is smashing for carpet,not so good for other jobs with the tools,and not so good on hard floors. It all depends a bit on the flooring in your house and the various jobs you use it for..What I do now is use the Dyson upstairs wher it is mainly carpet and I use a Panasonic canister cleaner downstairs where it is mainly wood floors ,and the tools for fiddly jobs are much easier to use.

most people are saying Dyson but i would never ever ever ever but one, they are way over priced, I don't care if they don't loose suction, that doesnt warrant a 300 euro price tag!!!

i have a nilfisk family and it works great, i don't know how much it cost but it wasn't expensive and i have had it for about 4 years and its still working great!!, its a cylinder and its really easy to use!!

whatever vaccum cleaner you but, when you experience a loss in suction after a while of using it then just buy replacement filters, you will probably get a phone number to order them, if not you can but them from specialist shops, it will still work out cheaper then a dyson and you will get the same suction!!

The Miele 5 series are really good, although a bit heavy. Used to work in an old 26 bedroomed house and had a Miele on every floor and they really worked well and could be used continuously for a lengthy period of time and the motor never overheats and the suction is phenomanal. However they need bags and filters which are readily available

Dyson but there is one which I dont know the name but is the same as a Dyson but a lot cheaper, I think Argos do them and the cleaning power is just as good as the Dyson.

Definatly a Dyson!
