Can you cook salmon rare like tuna?

    Yes you can but only if the salmon is extremely fresh and if it comes from very clean, cold,water aka Alaskan waters.

    The best way to determine if the salmon is sashimi grade is to look at the fillet does it look like a nice piece of rare beef. When I say this I'm referring to the deep red color.

    However, if your buying your salmon from the store I can almost guarantee it is not sashimi grade. Even if you catch it yourself you have to look at where you caught it and what time of year as well.

    You can cook it medium rare and it's really good.

    Yep, I've had salmon as sushi, so you can eat it raw. Its good, too.

    You could even sear it so that it is still raw and cold in the middle, and it will be delicious.
