Secular friends: If Christians worship a S-U-N god and not a S-O-N God, why don't we have any major...?

I don't know. Of the two deities, the sun doesn't hide its existence from me. It may give me sunburns, but it doesn't threaten to set me on fire for an eternity if I don't worship it. I can see the benefits of the sun from the light and warmth it gives. Perhaps the Egyptians had the right idea in worshiping Raa, except a giant ball of burning gas is probably apathetic about everything.

You should know better... June 24 is St. John the Baptists's Day and used to be heavily celebrated. In Quebec it even became the national holiday.

Christians don't worship a sun god so your question is irrelevant

Your worship methodology aside, all monotheistic religions can trace their roots back to sun worship, as opposed to nearly all (but not entirely) polytheistic religions which can trace their roots back to moon worship.

The details don't matter, the evolutionary pathway does.

Here's a thought.

To me it makes sense to have a festival to celebrate the birth of the sun/son, such as oh.... I dunno.... the Winter Solstice. Christmas, anyone?
