Why are some of the top 10 answerers in the various catergories not top contributors?

The top contributor badge is dynamic , hence not permanent and will be lost to users who fail to continue to post high quality answers in the given category.

A user may have collected a lot of points and best answers in a given category yet failed to maintain , or return to a category, and therefore have lost the badge , yet remain as top ten leader.

To remain a top contributor, you have to keep answering regularly in the category. They look at how many answers you've given in like the last 30 days.

You can make it the top of a category and keep that position even if the last few weeks you have been too busy to log in and answer in that category. It's a cumulative total to make it to the top of a category. You stay there till someone bumps you off.

The worst person to teach is someone who is thought of as knowledgeable..They are rigid in their beliefs and cannot look at something from an angle not previously considered.

Someone who is flexible as a newborn, is pliable and can imagine things others "know"to be impossible.

It is probably because they are not top contributors.
